Advantages: Lovely scent and taste, works well, good value
Disadvantages: Can be messy - but not that big of a deal
I first discovered Lush when I was about 16/17 years old away with my mum, and I have really liked them since then. I was lucky enough to work in one of their stores in Lincoln a couple of years ago, and while there, I discovered this little gem.
Lush do a variety of lip scrubs, but Bubblegum is by far my favourite. The taste of the scrub is just delicious, and even after rinsing it off my lips still taste of the flavour! (I rinse away with cool water rather than lick as suggested as I don't like the idea of eating dead skin!)
The scrub itself is easy to use. I usually dampen my lips with some cool water before using it as I think this helps the scrub stick a little more to the lips rather than just fall off as you scrub. I use enough to coat the end of my finger and scrub away like there's no tomorrow! I then rinse with cool water as mentioned above (this can be a little messy to do - I often end up with pink sugar in my sink! But it is not that big of a deal).
It is a very course texture, but not too harsh for the delicate lip skin - caster sugar is fine enough to not hurt or tear the lips but course enough to take the nasty flakies away! The jojoba oil in the product also leaves a lovely moisturised feeling on your lips after application (though I always apply a balm after as recommended by Lush). After I have used my scrub my lips instantly feel healthier and less dry. Any visible flakes have gone, and I can't help but smile. It really is a miracle scrub.
Ok, let's get down to aesthetics...
The colour of the scrub is fabulous! Bright-bright-bright pink! Being a very girly girl, this made me go "ooooh" and was actually the initial reason I tried the Bubblegum... then the scent and taste won me over completely!
The packaging is a small glass jar with a black screw top lid. The usual simple packaging we expect from Lush. The 'Lush' script on the front and top, as usual, say the name and some extra little bits of information are written beneath in a simpler script. The fact the pot is clear is fab because we can see that lovely pink scrub showing through, and it pop's brilliantly against the black lid and label - very eye catching in the stores.
As an added wonderful bonus - Lush does not test on animals, and Bubble-gum scrub is vegan. Woop!
Oh, and if you like using lip stains then this bad boy will remove any colour you throw at it - a wonderful little treat for make up removal too!
For £5.25 you get 25g of this wonder scrub, and personally, I think it is well worth parting with that cash. The scrub lasts ages! And is truly effective. I use it every morning, and any other time I see some flakies making an appearance on those lips. Goodbye rough lips, hello sexy smile!
Summary: Well worth the money, a total wonder scrub.
