Advantages: I like the idea of the popping candy
Disadvantages: It doesn't work as well in practise as I thought it would
Although the pow wow lip scrub doesn't look very festive I had to buy it anyway whilst I was stocking up on Lush seasonal products as I am obsessed with lip scrubs and balms and this was one that I hadn't tried before.
For some reason even though Lush are promoting pow wow as a seasonal product for Christmas they have decided to colour it green and not a nice shade either and I really did find this to be off putting when deciding to buy it or not.
Once you get over the hideous colour then the actual scrub is okay and although quite good it isn't really up to their usual high standards. I do like that it is a bit different from the majority that are normally available.
The thing that makes this scrub different to all the rest is that for the scrubbing action instead of just using sugar it actually contains popping candy.
Yes that is popping candy just like the sweets. You can actually hear if fizzing and popping whilst you are using it to exfoliate your lips which does make for an unusual experience. Unfortunately the popping candy makes it a bit more lumpy than the scrubs from lush normally are and they also dry out really quickly which can make them difficult to be able to use properly.
The scrub is full of loads of natural ingredients which are good for your lips such as lime and jojoba oil and some unusual ingredients such as ginsing and spinach powder. These combine to really soften and condition lips but be warned that once you have used the scrub your lips will be left feeling a little greasy but it will take away any dryness and rough patches that you have.
My lips were left looking and feeling nice and overall I really liked this scrub but it isn't quite as good as the other lush lip scrubs. I love the idea of using popping candy but they need to refine this scrub to make it a bit easier to use and if they get it right (and change the colour) then it would be a five star product but for now because the popping candy is a little difficult to actually scrub your lips with then I can only give it three stars.
