Lush Pow Wow Lip Scrub

Advantages: Great for lips, leaves them smooth

Disadvantages: This particular one was released at the wrong time of year

A couple of years ago Lush introduced their lip scrub range. Their lip scrubs are little 25g glass pots full of sugar which is coloured and can be used to scrub over your lips gently to get rid of dry skin and soreness. Lush states that using one of their lip scrubs will make your lips extra kissable! They cost £4.95 each.

The Pow-Wow lip scrub was available as part of the 2011 Christmas range. Personally I never did understand its Christmas connotations. Colourwise it is a snot green and Pow Wow always makes me think of a comic superhero! The lip scrub is also scented with a lime scent, again not particularly Christmassy. The lime scent made me think of summer rather than the icy cold winter we suffered from last year.

Lush use jojoba oil in their lip scrubs which they claim is "wonderfully moisturising but light enough not to leave you feeling greasy". The sugar used is caster sugar which is supposed to be the most gentle of sugars therefore the best to use on your lips.

I didn't intentionally purchase Pow-Wow - I actually received it as part of a massive Christmas present bundle. I only used it when I had run out of my usual Lush lip scrub. I liked the scent but I just didn't feel December was the right time of year for it. For some reason Lush decided to put popping candy into this lip scrub which is a really strange but fun sensation on your lips - it feels like your lips have a crackle running through them!

I do find the lip scrubs work very well however. They really do get rid of the dead skin on your lips and make them feel very soft. The lip scrubs can be a bit messy when applying so I always make sure I do it in the kitchen or bathroom where it is easy to mop it up! The one time I done it in the living room, the sugar stuck into the carpet and took ages to get it out again.

I also use the lip scrub as a base coat for my lipstick. I rub some lip scrub across my lips first, remove any excess and then apply my lipstick over the top. I find it really helps my lipstick to stay put for longer.

All in all I really recommend Lush lip scrubs. The only problem with this particular one was that it was released at the wrong time of year. You cannot get hold of Pow-Wow anymore as it has now been discontinued. The pots are also very long lasting, mine usually lasts for two months.
