"NIVEA Lip Care Active Care is specially developed for men to give protection without leaving any shiny film on the lips".
Although I've experimented with many of the man-orientated lip balms on the market (and some girly ones too - Carmex Cherry included), I've never really found a truly excellent one. I've actually got a lip balm floating around in some pocket or other in most of the jackets and coats that I own - but I never seem to have one on me when I really need it. I mainly use Lip Balm because I'm trying to avoid the lip dryness feeling you get from central heating at this time of year - plus I have a nasty habit of biting my lips and making them sore.
My most recent lip balm purchase was the Nivea Active Care for Men, which comes in a dark blue 4.8g container with a twistable base that raises and lowers the product. The balm can currently be purchased for just under £2 from Boots and many UK supermarkets.
The lip balm promises long lasting care for your lips in all weather conditions - plus, it is fragrance, shine, and colourant free. It also contains SPF 6 to help protect against UVA and UVB rays. The sun protection factor is very useful, as many of us forget to apply a suncream to the lips - mouths get sunburn too!
As claimed, the product has no aroma, and in terms of the product's texture, Nivea is a lot less greasy than the tin-based lip balms made by Vaseline. In fact, it seems to be just the right consistency to protect lips without that nasty slimy feeling. One generous appliance of this stuff will instantly stop mild soreness - yet however good this product makes the lips feel when first put on, the effects seem to be fairly short lived. After only fifteen minutes or so, my lips seemed fairly dry again, and not that well moisturised.
No, it's not the most exciting of lip balms, and it can't compete with the Carmex cherry flavoured products of this world - but I recommend Nivea Lip Care as a no nonsense product which offers short-term relief for chapped lips. I would give it a higher rating if it were longer lasting - yet apart from that, it does exactly what it says on the stick, plus the added bonus of the suncream is great for the summer months
