Nivea Hydro Care UV Protection
Advantages: Cheap and easy to carry around..
Disadvantages: If it gets warm it melts a bit haha!
I love winter, it's the time of year when my lips get so dry and cracked it just doesn't look pleasant and it sure as anything doesn't feel it either. So I always have a lip balm on me somewhere, for the past few months I've just been carrying around a tin of Vaseline, but the tin got a bit battered so decided to look around for something new, so had a look while I was doing my shopping because my lips were so dry they were just absorbing everything I put on them - so I spotted this and put it in my basket.
~*~ Nivea ~*~
A company established in 1882, that provides the world with skin care from shaving foam all the way through to hand cream. They produce some of the most popular anti-aging products and are a brand that is recognised all around the world - you can't fail to notice the blue background and the white writing to know the brand. They have in recent years added self-tanning moisturisers to their collection of skin care, and added to the market of those available - a modern and kind brand of skin care that most people have come in contact with at some point.
~*~ Hydro Lipbalm ~*~
When I first bought this lipbalm I had a cold and nothing was making my lips stay moisturised for more than a minute, and they were getting really tight and uncomfortable - so I knew the Vaseline wasn't working, so figured getting something that's meant to hydrate would probably help at least a little. So I picked this up thinking, I'm not fussed about any colour on my lips, because I'd be wearing it at work anyway - and I was just so annoyed by this point I wanted anything to make my lips feel better! At first when I practically ripped the cardboard and plastic packaging off the balm, without really paying much attention to it, I just wanted to get the balm and try and soothe my poor lips. It comes in a pull off lid, and twist bottom to get the balm pointing out of the opening. Which makes this lip balm very simple, and the fact that it's not very big means you can pop it in your hand bag or in your pocket to quickly whip out when you need it. Which was ideal for me, as it was in and out of my tunic pocket at work as my lips were absorbing it as fast as I was applying it for a short time.
It didn't take a long before I felt like my lips were looking more normal, and the lipbalm really did feel like it was working - as I could apply it and the tightness would disappear and I would generally feel far more comfortable with my face, as before I started using it I was very aware that my lips were red and angry looking, with this balm on I felt like they calmed down quite a bit actually. That has continued since I got rid of the nasty cold a few weeks ago, anytime I feel like my lips are getting a little bit dry I grab this out of my bag and apply it - I've not had any repeated episodes of really dry and chapped lips since, especially with the awful weather we've been having. Admittedly before I go out in the cold I do put a nice thick layer of the stuff on, which does help the wind not catch my lips. The other bonus is that although the balm has no colour to it, the more I put on the pinker my lips look, which I quite like purely because come the winter my lips tend to get quite pale, and it's nice to have something to make them stand out.
A warning though don't leave it in your pocket... It will get really soft, it's nice but you'll end up with loads on without meaning it!
Personally I've found this lipbalm to be really moisturising and hydrating, in both the times where I've had really dry lips, and in the situation where I wanted to prevent it happening. I can't say I have any complaints at all about it, apart from when you expose it to heat it will get a bit soft - but that's the same with any lipbalm of this kind. It's really kind on your skin and lips will make your lips look and feel happier, with a tiny bit of shine but still enough that I can get away with it at work. An ideal piece of kit for your handbag especially this time of year and even more so if you work somewhere air-conditioned. Keeping the idea that Nivea products are high quality in the forefront!
I've had mine a good 8 weeks now, and I'm only just beginning to thing about buying a new one - so has lasted really well for me!
~*~ Price and Availability ~*~
I got mine from asda for £2, it can also be bought in Boots for £1.99 (and points) and £1.49 in superdrug at the moment. Also look out for it online, if you don't mind paying for delivery charges!
Summary: A good lip balm that will last you well!
