Nivea SOS Lip Balm
Advantages: An OK lip balm
Disadvantages: Only OK
I didn't actually plan on buying this lip balm at all, especially since I have quite a few already! It was a freebie with another Nivea product so I can't tell you how much I paid. A quick search gives £3-4 as the selling price right now.
The innovative formula of NIVEA SOS Lip Relief, with menthol and caring Panthenol, relieves dry and cracked lips, leaving them soft and healthy looking.
HOW IT WORKS
-Instantly relieves very dry and cracked lips
-Smooths lips with a protection barrier enriched with Panthenol
-Provides a cooling effect
-Not suitable for children under 3 years of age

I really like the easy-to-carry packing - perfect to throw into a makeup bag or handbag and really easy to use. The applicator is a sloped opening with a hole from which you squeeze out the product. The cool green colours are also very nice on the eyes and make the packaging even more attractive. The smell is actually very similar to talcum powder/baby powder, which is probably not to everyone's taste. The HUGE list of ingredients also scared me, particularly because it's very easy to ingest this into your system when eating. The lip balm is a creamy consistency and comes out white - it actually reminds me of a lipgloss since it looks pretty shiny on the lips. Because of the white colour, after applying your lips do look pale but I really don't mind this since it doesn't look too bad on my lips although it does sit unusually heavily on them. I've found that this product does moisturise, but it's average compared to my other lip balms.
I felt no cooling effect and there was no "instant relief" to my lips...the only thing immediately noticed is the white sheen that can probably look very unnatural and even scary on some people! I can also see some people disliking the fragrance, which was very unnecessary since it is a strong smell that just wafts up your nose. It's not a product I would have purchased anyway, but had I done so, I probably would have been quite annoyed at having been fooled by the "SOS" branding! I prefer more natural lip balms and definitely wouldn't be purchasing since there wasn't anything outstanding about it!
Summary: An OK, average lip balm!
