Advantages: Works well, good price.

Disadvantages: Tastes too nice! LOL!

I read a review the other day here on Dooyoo - of course - about The Body Shop Lip Butter. It was a very positive review and, since I use lip balm on a regular basis I thought that I ought to investigate.

When I was next in town I went into our local branch of The Body Shop and found the lip butters on offer - normally £5 per pot they were offered at £8 for two. Well I am always up for a special offer so I chose the Pink Grapefruit and the Mango Lip Butters and paid my £8.

We live in the West Shore at Llandudno so we have a sea breeze more often than not. Add that to the fact that I have to have our heating on most of the time during the winter as my mom lives with us and she feels the cold and I need to use lip balm all the time.

I can't stand my lips feeling dry - it really irritates me.

I tend to try all sorts of balms and butters so I was looking forward to trying these new ones.

This particular review will be primarily about the Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter as that is the one that I am actually using at the moment.

The Lip Butters look like miniature versions of the Body Shop Body Butters but made for the lips. The pots of lip butter are just 10ml compared to the 200ml body butters but the pots are the same design as the body butters.

They come in a variety of flavours - pink grapefruit, papaya, Brazil nut, Shea, coconut, almond, passion fruit and mango. The colours of the pots correspond to the flavours - mango is gold, pink grapefruit is pink etc. - with stickers on the top of each one to inform you which variety it is.

The main ingredients of Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter are vitamin E to protect and nourish the lips and Shea Butter which is a natural moisturiser that helps to condition the lips sealing in the moisture. The other ingredient is (obviously) pink grapefruit seed oil which is 'rich in essential fatty acids that help restore skin smoothness and suppleness while rebuilding the skins barriers function'.

The Body Shop operates a Community Trade policy which basically means 'A fair price for a fantastic ingredient or product, from a disadvantaged or small scale supplier'.

For example the Shea Butter comes from Tungteiya, which represents about 400 women in Northern Ghana where many families rely on subsistence farming.

To use the lip butter you just get a small amount on the end of your finger and rub it onto your lips. It is easily absorbed and isn't too greasy and it makes my lips feel really moisturised and soft.

I use this product last thing at night for the simple reason that it is easier to carry the lipstick type ones in my bag during the day and they are less messy to use - I don't have to wipe my fingers as I do with the Body Shop Lip Butter.

I find it easier to keep this one on my bedside table and use it each night before I go to sleep. That way my lips are comfortable as I go to sleep and the butter can do its good work during the night!

The other advantage of using it at night is that, since I am asleep, I don't lick it off! It tastes so nice that I do tend to keep licking my lips when I use this product.

So there you are I have purchased a product as a direct result of reading a review on Dooyoo and am just as satisfied with it as the original reviewer was. That's just how it should be!

Result!

Summary: A great moisturiser
