Advantages: Lovely smell, moisturising
I have been building up my lip balm and lip butter collection quite a lot in the past, and sadly many of the products I have never had the chance to completely finish before losing them or before they go out of date. This Shea Lip Butter from the Body Shop, I have to say, is one of my absolute favourites. I have always been something of a Body Shop fanatic, because of their delicious smelling range of natural and effective products (also they have a good reputation for being ethical with their products), but because of their high prices in comparison to the many body care brands available, I have to work hard to restrain myself from buying too many products from there at once!
I had tried the Body Shop's lip balm before, but never the lip butter before (lip butter has always sounded like the more luxurious and classy option). The majority of the items of which I buy from the Body Shop are body care products, for example body butters or lotions, but I had bought and used some of their lip and face products before. Having heard some brilliant things about their lip butter, I decided that I simply could not put off buying a tub any longer.
After several moments of pondering over the lip butter section of the shop. I chose the Shea variety because normally I tend to stick to the more fruity scents; however, I thought that Shea would make a very pleasant change. Also, I had owned the Shea body butter before and thought that it smelled delicious.
This did not come cheap, though. It was £4 for a tiny, miniscule 10ml tub, very expensive when you think that you can get plenty of good quality lip balm for £1 or even less. I hoped that it would be well worth the price, as most of the Body Shop products I have tried generally are. Also, this price is nothing out of the ordinary for Body Shop products, so I bought my little tub and tested it out.
The packaging is like a tub of the Body Shop's body butter, except that it has been compressed down to the small size it is. The tub is a pale cream colour, with a picture of Shea nuts on the front. The overall effect is very natural, and looks good. The tub has an easy to open lid that can be screwed off before you dip your finger in for application. It is quite lightweight so it is very portable which is a bonus.
The smell is very nice actually, sweet and creamy like the body butter. It does not have the fruitiness of the fruit scented body butters, but I am actually glad that I chose this scent because it really is lovely. I think that this is a flavour that is brilliant for all seasons and the smell makes me want to apply the lip butter more often!
The texture is quite soft and easy to apply using your finger. It is soft like butter, but hard enough for you to be able to swipe it without getting too much on your finger. It lasts for quite a long time too, since you really do not need too much per application (and the longevity is also quite good so you do not have to reapply that often either), and the little tub of lip butter seems to go a long way! It works very well, too; it feels soothing on your lips and moisturises chapped and dry lips.
In conclusion, this may be an expensive product, but I do think it is worth it for the quality you get. However, one of the main attractions is the smell, which is lovely. I would give this product 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
Summary: Worth it!
