The product is made by Vaseline who is a well-known brand of skincare products. Most of you will have heard of their products and a lot of you will be familiar with Vaseline which contains Petroleum Jelly. Vaseline helps to give your lips the moisturisation they need and to help them looking healthy and feel good. As well as doing this the product also helps to maintain the skins natural moisture barrier to form a protective shield between your lips and the elements. I am reviewing the Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy which I recently purchased due to suffering from dry, sore lips. The cold weather and the wind has caused my lips to become a little sore and during the night I find that my lips can become dry and sometimes split which causes them to bleed sometimes. I normally apply a good lip balm before going to bed, how-ever I didn't have it with me whilst at my boyfriends so I popped to my local boots store to purchase something else I could use instead. I used to use the original Vaseline Lip Therapy tin; how-ever I thought I would go for something different and instead try the Cocoa Butter one instead. This tin contains a hint of Cocoa Butter which is well known for its skin conditioning benefits. If you chose the stick version this also contains Shea Butter.
The product comes in a small round tin which is a light brown and white colour. The tin is small enough to fit into a pocket or bag so is great to have on you at all times. On the lid of the tine it states what the product is. On the bottom of the tin you can find a list of ingredients that are used in the product and you can also see that this is a Unilever brand.

I purchased a tin of this from my local Boost store which cost me £1.99. This is for a tin of the product which contains 20g. I think this is a very reasonable price for this product. As well as Vaseline Original and Cocoa Butter they also now do other products in the Lip Therapy range which also come in small tins. You can also buy all of the Vaseline Lip Therapy products in a stick format as well, which contains slightly different ingredients.
Lip Therapy Original (Blue & White tin)
Lip Therapy Rosy (Pink tin)
Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera (Green tin)
Lip Therapy Pink Bubbly (Black and Pink tin) - Limited Edition
Using the Product

You can apply the product liberally as often as required. I find Vaseline quite greasy so I only tend to use this product in the evening. I always apply the product before going to bed to ensure my lips stay moisturised all night, which helps them to stop drying out causing my lips to sometimes crack and split during the night. The lid to the tin is easy to open to reveal the tin pot full of the product. The Vaseline is the same colour as the original Vaseline which is actually clear; allow looks a slight pale yellow colour in the tin due to the amount that's in there. The product smells delicious and as soon as you take the lid off you can smell the delicious scent of the cocoa butter. As previously states I always apply the product before going to bed. I ensure my hands are clean and I use one finger to rub this gently over the top of the Vaseline in the tin. If this has been in a pocket the product can become rather soft. I then apply the product to my lips, ensuring I give them a good coating, but I ensure I don't apply too much of the product. The product us very easy to apply and does leave your fingertip a little greasy, how-ever I just rinse my hand and this washes off easily. As soon as I have applied the product my lips feel relieved and soothed. I could clearly see where I applied the product as this did look slightly greasy. I could smell the product as it was on my lips and this made me want to lick my lips which I did a few times, how-ever the product doesn't taste of anything. I went to bed and awoke the following morning to see the results. The product kept my lips feeling moisturised all night which meant that my lips didn't become dry or cracked. They also appeared to feel much softer and less sore and dry than they had done before applying the product.

I love the scent of the product and I think it does a great job of soothing sore, chapped lips. I do find the product rather greasy which is why I only apply it during the night and I use a lip balm stick during the day as I also find the stick more convenient for on the go as I don't have to use my fingertip to apply the product. I think the added ingredient of Cocoa Butter does helps to make my lips softer and smoother than it does with using the original lip therapy. In terms of value I think this is very reasonable as I find that the tin lasts me a good amount of time before it needs replacing. If you use the product more than once a day then you will find that you may need to purchase the product more often. The thing I like about this product is that a little goes a long way and I think the smell of the cocoa butter in this product is lovely. I would recommend this product to others as it works well and helps to soothe lips.
