Vaseline Lip Therapy Creme Brulee
Advantages: Unusual scent
This is a review of a limited edition lip gloss that I picked up a few months ago from Sainsburys as it was on their reduced shelf. The Vaseline Lip Therapy in Creme Brulee flavour is a little bit unusual but one that I just had to try. I have still seen it in the shops so I don't know when it will be discontinued but it is also widely available online at the moment. I am sorry, this is yet another lip balm review from me. I seem to have hundreds of the things lying around my house but I love them!
What is it?
Like the other little tins of Vaseline Lip Therapy, this is a lip balm based on petroleum jelly so it is very greasy to use and does treat dry lips well.
I have had no problems so far in opening the crème brulee tin and in the past I have struggled with the general design but this one seems to have the right balance between staying shut when not in use and opening when I want to get in to it! The tins are well made and sturdy and will outlast the majority of the long life of the product inside before showing wear and tear. If you carry them around in jeans or tight pockets, the pattern will wear off a bit in the end though. If you are looking for this in the shops, look out for the light brown packaging on the tin as it stands out quite well on the shelf next to the other Vaseline lip products.
I found upon first using this that it was quite strong smelling, I usually use the green aloe vera lip therapy tin. It smells really sweet but has no actual taste to it. But whilst it does smell a bit like caramel to me, I'm not sure it actually smells like crème brulee! Upon application, the effects of moisturised lips last for around an hour before wearing off unless you are eating or drinking and then it wears off a lot quicker. I find it exactly the same formula and consistency as the original and aloe vera versions.
My pot is 20g and these limited edition ones do tend to retail for a higher price than the normal range. I paid just £1.49 for my tin as it was reduced at Sainsbury's but I think you can pay around £3 normally for them. The tin lasts months, even years so it is well worth that price.
I really like this crème brulee and have enjoyed having a new flavour to try. Well, I say flavour but it doesn't taste of anything, it smells divine though! I have a massive collection of lip balms but my daughter is always keen to have a go when she sees me using one and there have been no complaints about this one. I find it really helps, especially during the winter months to stop me biting the skin on my lips, and if your nose is sore from a cold you can use this to help protect your skin too.
I think this will still be available to buy for a few months yet but I still have the majority of my tin left so it's unlikely I will get around to buying more of this lovely lip balm. I have seen a new line from Vaseline in 'Pink Champagne' that I am going to try next as it's so cheap to buy it's a nice treat without breaking the bank. This is definitely a lip balm that your husband will not pinch from you as it is a girly treat and especially being a 'dessert' flavour we can use this without feeling naughty!
Summary: Nice lip balm
