With the cold weather clearly setting in I found that my skin has become drier as well as my lips which is never pleasant as there is nothing worse than cracked, dry lips as apart from looking awful it also feels quite painful. Therefore, in a bad to tackle this I have a variety of lip care products kept either in my handbag, bedside table and in my desk drawer at work so wherever I am I can apply something to my lips to keep them hydrated and cared for.
Currently sitting on my desk is a tin of Vaseline Rosy Lips. I'm a huge fan of Vaseline and have been using their products for years and they always tend to work whether I've got dry skin or chapped lips. Vaseline is a brand name that we have all heard off. The company (now owned by Unilever) has been going for over 130 years and has been providing products to over 60 countries and to think it was all started by a young chemist in America with an interest in skin!
Vaseline Rosy Lips was brought out a few years ago and originally came in the travel sized little tin which was the same as the Original Vaseline tin but it is now available in both the tin and the stick version. Rosy Lips is suitably named as it contains rose oil and to keep in with the theme of roses the tin itself is pink and white and is easily recognisable when buying in store as apart from the colour it also has the recognisable 'Vaseline' logo across the front of the tin in white. On the back of the tin there is a rather large barcode together with the ingredients list.
Rosy Lips contains almond oil and rose oil which gives it its sweet scent. But more importantly both ingredients will help protect your lips. Rose oil (also known as Rosa Damascena Flower Oil) and almond oil (also known as Amygdalus Dulcis Oil) are the main ingredients within Rosy Lips and these two oils help care and protect dry lips and keep them well moisturised.
Once the tin's lid is off you are immediately met with a bright pink coloured Vaseline which is more rose pink in colour than an in your face neon pink which makes a nice change to the standard clear Vaseline. Rosy Lips does have quite a fragrant almost perfumed aroma which is delicate and quite floral, I guess this is in keeping with the rose theme. Rosy Lips has exactly the same consistency as to normal Vaseline the only differences are the colour, added ingredients and fragrance.
To apply Rosy Lips all you need to do is simply take the tin's lid off and apply with your fingertip. You only need to apply a little to get a good coverage especially as once the Rosy Lips warms up on your fingertip and lips it soon becomes thinner in its consistency but it does manage to cover quite a lot so you certainly don't need to use a lot when applying if anything it can be too easy to over apply and end up with a bit too much on your lips that wanted!
Rosy Lips manages to give your lips a lovely subtle pink tint (more you apply the pinker your lips become!) with a nice glossy sheen. The pink tint lasts for as long as Rosy Lips stays on your lips but I have noticed that if I have particularly dry or cracked lips then even after the Rosy Lips has been absorbed there is a little pink staining which doesn't bother me too much as I regularly apply Rosy Lips at work but if left it can look a bit bad and it can make your lips worse than they actually are.
I have had quite a few tins of Rosy Lips as I like the tint it gives to your lips as well as the lovely floral aroma that it has. Like the original Vaseline it only lasts for a short period of time unless of course you plaster it on and your lips can't absorb it all but it is easily to reapply and by using such small amounts every time you apply your little tin lasts for quite some considerable time. I can't fault Rosy Lips whatsoever as it manages to keeps my lips moisturised and it certainly cares for my lips when they are dry. It doesn't take long, a matter of days, for my once dry lips to return back to normal.
Overall, I can't find fault with Rosy Lips. It leaves your lips with a lovely, subtle pink sheen together with caring for your lips whether dry or not. A little tin can last months depending on how many times you apply it but as it is inexpensive it won't break the bank and best of all it does actually work! I can highly recommend it as a product that does its job. I give it 5 stars!
