Advantages: Delicious. Unique taste. Distinctive product. Gives a kick. Price okay.

Disadvantages: The hangover!

Aftershock is one of those nasty drinks that is just absolutely delicious and gives you that kick that you sometimes are really looking for. There are several flavours (namely Hot Cinnamon, Cool Citrus, Spiced Berry, Electric Taste and Fizzy Orange) and I have tried the Hot Cinnamon and the Spiced Berry - both of which are equally good.

The Aftershock comes in a square shaped glass transparent slightly frosted bottle with a screw top lid. The name "Aftershock" is emblazoned on the side of the bottle and it's very distinctive. What is equally distinctive is the bright colours of the liquor (which you can see through the bottle), some of which looks like mouth wash. The Hot Cinnamon is a bright red and the Spiced Berry is a dark black. The colours are very distinctive and are part of the fun element of the drink.

This drink is strong and is equal to other spirits such as vodka at 40% proof - but because of the intense flavours, I think not only does it make the drink taste stronger, but also, strangely, more drinkable. I'm happy to drink this both in a cocktail, or neat - and actually, unlike most spirits, I actually prefer to drink this in a shot rather than with a mixer. This is lethal stuff though, and once you start, you can be pretty certain a hangover is going to be your friend in the morning.

I like both flavours I have tried. Both are spicy and quite hot - and quite a unique flavour. The cinnamon version is probably the most spicy and actually burns your mouth as you drink it (in a nice way!) and it leaves you with that wow factor that really lets you know that you've taken a hit. The berry one, on the other hand, reminds me of a very very strong cold mulled wine. Having said that, a friend of mine did heat some and mixed it with some heated red wine and it was absolutely delicious and I think I'll be doing that myself this Christmas.

This probably is one of my favourite drinks and it's also fairly reasonable, with a 500ml bottle costing about £17 from Asda. Believe me, you won't need too much of it!

Summary: Delicious yumminess.
