***What is it?***
Archers is a Peach flavoured schnapps. It is 23% ABV. It is great served with a mixer like lemonade, soda water or orange juice or part of a cocktail
Archers comes in a semi opaque long white bottle; handy as you can gauge how much alcohol you have drank/ have left. The top of the bottle is orange and Archers is written in large font on the front of the bottle. The bottle is very plain and does not immediately grab your attention when it is on the shelf in the supermarket.
Archers is sold in supermarkets. Asda and Tesco sell a 70cl bottle for around £13. At Christmas time Asda usually have an offer where you can pick up two bottles of Archers for £20. A 1 litre bottle of Archers is sold for around £16.50 in Asda.
Archers is much more expensive than other Peach Schnapps products. Asda and Tesco have their own brand versions of Archers on sale for around £7 for a 70cl bottle. Aldi sell their own brand peach schnapps for £4.99, which tastes exactly the same as Archers.
When you open the Archers bottle you are immediately hit by a very strong sweet peach scent. This reminds me of a cross between perfume and air freshener. Not the most pleasant aroma's for something that you intend to drink.
When poured into a glass Archers is a clear liquid which is quite thick and syrupy. When added to a mixer (lemonade usually in my case) the strong peach scent hits you again. As soon as you take a drink of Archers and lemonade the taste of peach hits you. This is very fruity and sweet. As the taste is so sweet you cannot taste the alcohol in the Archers drink. The lasting taste in your mouth is of peach. This fruit taste in my opinion is quite refreshing however Mr Lools finds this too sweet for his taste buds.
With lemonade the taste is very refreshing and light. If Archers is mixed with orange juice it is very sweet and a little sickly as the orange juice makes the taste heavier. A personal favourite of mine is a cocktail made with one part vodka, one part Archers, one part Malibu and 4 parts orange juice.
Archers is a very easy drink to drink as it is sweet, refreshing and because you cannot taste the alcohol in it does not actually taste like you are drinking alcohol. Archers is definitely for those that like sweet tasting drinks, if you are not a fan of sweet drinks you will probably find it too sweet and sickly and after one or two drinks feel sick from the very sweet syrupy peach taste. Scent wise this is very sweet and peachy and taste is a definite peach taste... therefore if you do not like the taste of peach I would avoid. A great drink to consume with mixers like lemonade or as part of a cocktail.... Although my advice would be buy a cheaper alternative to Archers they taste just as good and for half of the cost.
Summary: A peach flavoured schnapps, great with a mixer or part of a cocktail
