Advantages: Fruity clean, crisp taste.
Disadvantages: May be a little sweet for some people!
I first discovered Archers peach schnapps when I was 11, no I'm not a major boozer! It was on holiday in America when my dad drank it with orange juice he would let me have the occasional sip and I thought it tasted like really nice fruit juice. Roll on 4 or 5 years and I would have the occasional Archer's Aqua alcopop and then when u started going out to town I started my love affair with Archers. DIAGEO who claim Archers as one of their brands (alongside Smirnoff and Baileys) describe Archers peach schnapps as: premium, international, contemporary fruit schnapps. It combines the taste of peaches and is packaged in an elegant white frosted bottle.
**A Little Bit of History**
Schnapps has been around for ages and the word schnapps comes from the old Norse word 'snappen', meaning to snatch a gulp. From this comes the traditional way of drinking schnapps in Europe as an ice cold shot. The launch of Archers Peach Schnapps was in 1974 and its greatest markets are the US, Great Britain, Spain and Germany.

I really like the Archer's peach schnapps bottle, Archer's generally comes in 70cl bottles. The bottle is a typical wine bottle design but with a slightly shorter neck. The glass is frosted which creates a semi-opaque look through which you can see the level of the liquid through but nothing else. The cap is a screw lid and is orange in colour, below is a white band which says 'Archers' in it and then an orange band with 'schnapps' in it. There is an silvery circle on the front which has 'Archers' in it in orange arched over the word 'Schnapps'. There is also an image of half a peach surrounded by an orange circle. Further down the bottle is a red G A Archer signature and silver writing which states 'uniquely blended with the flavour of rich peach for a crisp, clean taste. The bottle recommends that Archers is best consumed within 9months, mine never lasts this long though!
When you first open a bottle of Archers you get the sweet peachy scent of coconut which smells nice and naturally fruity. I love drinks like this because the sweet aromas remind me of holidays. When poured Archers is a clear liquid but it has a slightly syrupy consistency and is slightly sticky to the touch.
I enjoy drinking Archers with a mixer or on its own as a shot if I'm on a night out. On its own as a shot Archers is very tasty, due to it being 23% you don't get the really harsh taste that vodka or tequilla gives you. A shot of Archers tastes nicely sweet maybe a little sweet for some and you are leaft with a nice refreshing peach taste in your mouth which lasts nicely. My three favourite shots are Archers, Malibu and Orange Aftershock.
Like Malibu, Lemonade is my favourite mixer when drinking Archers, lemonade makes the drink very refreshing and the Archers doesn't taste quite so sweet, I think drinking Archers and Lemonade taste very similar to the Archers Peach Aqua. Another option is coke which I discovered from my flatmate at Uni, I thought this was quite a strange combination but it is actually quite nice, like a peach version of cherry coke (if you get what I mean!). I enjoy drinking Archers with fruit juice such as fresh orange, cranberry and pineapple juices as these create a really nice fresh fruity taste. Try mixing your favourite fruit juice with Archers peach schnapps.Archers Peach Schnapps is used as an ingredient in a multitude of cocktails such as Woo Woo, Shrek, Falling Angel, Bleeding Orgasm #2 and many more.
I find that whichever mixer I drink my Archers with that I end with a nice crisp peachy aftertaste which is really nice. Also due to Archers only having an alcohol content volume of 23% (low compared to spirits such as vodka) you can't taste the alcohol in it, making it a very pleasant drink. However, I only drink doubles and if I have a bottle of Archers at home I tend to pour large measures, which makes it disappear quite quickly.
The pricing of Archers isn't too bad but its not the cheapest of spirits with prices roughly £13 for 70cl in supermarkets. Some supermarkets such as Netto and Asda do manufacture their own version of peach schnapps which range between £6-£8 but I think these have quite a woody taste so I would not recommend them. I normally end up with a bottle for Christmas and asks relatives to pick up a bottle in Duty Free when they go away.
Archers is one of my favourite drinks as its leaves you with a very clean, crisp and refreshing taste, it can be drank with a multitude of mixers or as a shot. I don't generally buy Archers to drink at home as I favour cheaper spirits. But I normally receive a bottle at Christmas or from Duty Free. Like Malibu there is pre-conception that Archers is a girly drink, I think as with most drinks like alcopops for example that Archers is becoming more unisex. If you find spirits such as Vodka too strong and like fruity tastes I recommend that you try Archers Peach Schnapps.
Summary: A very versatile drink that should be in your drinks cabinet, if it lasts long enough!
