Archers Peach County Schnapps
Advantages: Tasty, goes well with lots of mixers
Disadvantages: Cheaper versions are available!
If I am drinking spirits, I will usually go for a Malibu or an Archers - both are fruity and tasty!
Archers is a fruit schnapps, flavoured with the taste of peaches.
The bottle is white frosted with the Arches logo and peaches on the front.
The alcohol is 23% which isn't as strong as other spirits, such as vodka which is more likely to be about 40%.
The taste is very sugary, and if you are not in to sweet drinks then this will definately not be for you.
The peach taste is also very strong, and stands out with whatever mixer you have with it.
I generally have Archers and lemonade and find that although you can taste the flavour, it doesn't taste too alcoholic and so it is easy to drink. This is good in a way but also not so good as it means it is very easy to get drunk without realising it!
I have also tried Archers with a variety of fruit juices and have not found one that it doesn't go well with so far.
I can easily drink a few glasses of this but for people without a sweet tooth, I think they might find it too sickly sweet and very sugary.
A bottle is about £12.99 and is quite often on offer.
I have to say, I occasionally buy this bottle, but Tesco does an identical version for around £5, as does Iceland, and so I would usually get one of these as there really is no difference, apart from in the price!
There are other Archers flavours, Archers Cranberry and Archers Lime, as well as a new range called Archers Vea which comes in Archers Vea Tropical, Archers Vea Wildberry and Archers Vea Apple.
The Archers Vea range has less sugar and no artificial sweetners, but I have yet to try one of these.
Archers goes very well in cocktails and is definately a summery drink that reminds me of holidays.
Here are a couple of cocktails I have made with Archers....
---- Archers Woowoo ----
Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in 35ml of Peach Schnapps and 35ml of vodka. Top up with chilled cranberry juice. Add a dash of lime and finish with a wedge.
---- Archers Ginger Schnapps ----
Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in 35ml of Peach Schnapps. Top up with Ginger Ale, add a dash of lime and finish with a wedge.
Summary: Yum Yum!
