Archers - Peach
Advantages: tastes nice, not so sharp after taste even with high a ABV content
Disadvantages: too sickly and sweet to drink too much alone! stick with a mixer :)
Ahh now this is a drink which really takes me back to Student uni days. We all knew the main aim was to get as drunk as possible, with spending as little money as possible all whilst hoping it would taste nice! Archers peach is one of those such drinks that fit the description easily.
It is a peach-flavoured variety of Schnapps from the Archers brand. It comes in a glass bottle which has a frosty design so the bottle looks cloudy but you can still make out the level of liquid in the bottle by looking through it. A 70cl bottle costs around £12 or so, but split 3 ways back in uni days it was super duper cheap! It has 21% ABV so is over one fifth of alcohol so for a lightweight like me, consumed neat it was guaranteed to have be stumbling about in high heels!
The schnapps itself is a clear liquid and has a really strong peachy-alcoholic scent to it the second you open the bottle. It is a nice welcoming smell, and reminds me of just being happy and in the party mood! Pouring it, you can consume it 2 ways. As shots I must say it is really really sweet! It is one of the more easier alcoholic drinks to have as a shot as it doesn't leave any bitter after taste nor a burn down the back of my throat like I have experienced with many other cheap versions of schnapps. It does have a nice peach flavour, but of course this is only as a shot I think it would be too sickly to be consistently drunk neat and is much more appealing with a mixer.
I prefer having peach archers with lemonade - together it is absolutely lovely. The two flavours compliment each other well for what can only be described as peach lemonade with a nice alcoholic kick :) Of course I am not recommending this as a drink to go out and get wasted on, (I am no advocate for alcoholism or being drunk lol) but for social drinking occasions, perhaps at a bar or club this is a really nice drink.
To sum up this is a nice drink, and one I would definitely recommend. Sure there are other cheaper versions of Peach Schnapps out there but this one tastes much better and is definitely one of the cases where more money = better quality. Best with a mixer for those with not such a sweet tooth!
