Advantages: A creamy, delightful new flavour that captures the essence of Biscotti perfectly
Disadvantages: Hard to distinguish this bottle from the other varieties on the shelf!
Up until a few years back, I had never actually drank Baileys but of course was aware of the product. After all, who isn't? But I was under the mistaken conception that it was a christmasey drink and more of a girly drink than something I would ever be seen dead drinking.
Then Tia Maria brought out Tia Lisso and I decided to give that a try being a big fan of the unique, rich Tia Maria flavour that I first became accustomed to drinking Black Russians. Although much sweeter and creamier than Maria, I actually really enjoyed my Tia Lisso. And then someone told me it was just like Baileys.....
So I decided to give Baileys a go....but when I went to buy my own bottle, I wasn't going to just drink any old Baileys. Oh no! With so many different flavours in the range now available, I decided to go for something a bit different.
Which is how I first started drinking Baileys Biscotti!
Whilst it is true that Baileys does indeed have a similar texture to Tia Lisso, it's flavour is subtley different in ways that is difficult to describe. This flavour in paticular, whilst exceptionally sweet at first (it DOES take a little getting used to!), perfectly captures the taste of the well-known Italian twice baked biscuit that normallly accompanies strong, black Italian coffee and compliments the flavour of the Baileys really well; the two flavours working together in fusion to produce something quite unlike anything else I have ever experienced drinking.
And more-ish? Lets just say, I can finish off a large proportion of the bottle before I have even realised how much I have drank. All I can say is it is a good sign that I have a sweet tooth! My wife likes this too but can only drink a little at a time because for her the flavour is much too sweet!
Out of all the different Baileys flavours you can now purchase, and I have tried them all in the last 14 months (because a friend of ours always has a bottle of one flavour or another on the go!), this is by far my favourite merely because it is something differeent and unique! It captures the feel of a good quality Cookie Dough ice cream but in the form of an alcoholic beverage and is both as creamy and delightful as you would expect from something with the Baileys name on.
Its bottle is similar to all the other Baileys bottles with only the word, Biscotti on it to distinguish this from all the others so when buying your Baileys, it is a good idea to check the label throughly first or you might end up with a flavour you weren't bargaining on! But apart from that slight niggle, I simply cannot fault this lush alcoholic beverage and, in fact, may just indulge myself in a glass or two now because writing all this has put me in just the right mood for a tipple or two before bed.....
Night all.....
Summary: A creamy more-ish alcoholic drink for all those with a sweet, sweet tooth!
