Baileys Irish Cream
Advantages: Taste, versatility
If you are a regular dooyoo writer you may have read from my drinks reviews, I like to try new drinks when I go out with a couple of mates and I was in my local Yates and my mate was nowhere to be seen so I decided to try something new. (I usually just buy a round in when I am with my mates). And after looking at the drinks menu for a minute or so I decided to try a glass of Baileys.
Now some people may consider this a girly drink for some odd reason but I see it as what it is, just a drink. So I ordered a Baileys and went over to stand by one of those high tables and proceeded to sip the Baileys whilst looking around the club for my mate who eventually turned up sat down looking a bit worse for wear after a few too many drinks (A common occurance for him).
Baileys is a mixture of Irish Cream, Whiskey and is known as the most popular liquer in the world. It was introduced to the world in 1974 in Dublin by R.A Bailey and Co. It has an abv of 17% and was the first Irish Cream Liquer on the market and now there are many who have cottoned on to the drink and made a derivative of their own Irish Crean Liquer.
There are many ways you can drink Baileys, But I always recommended that you at least have it with ice in the glass. You can have it in a cup of coffee to make it an Irish Coffee or you can have it one of these ways.
COCKTAILS CONTAINING BAILEYS
This layered drink uses Kahlua, Bailey's, and Grand Marnier. You can do them in anything from a 1:1:1 ration to putting in 1/2oz Baileys to 3/4oz Kahlua to 1oz Grand Marnier.
Put in the Kahlua first. Now using an upside down spoon, pour the Bailey's gently on the spoon so it fans out against the inside of the glass, drizzling gently on top of the Kahlua. It'll form a second layer. Do the same with the Grand Marnier for the top layer. Enjoy!
Bailey's is a delicious cream-whiskey blend that makes for a smooth, wonderful recipe base. The Bailey's Amarreto Recipe blends together Baileys Irish Cream and Amaretto. It's gentle, delicious and perfect for sipping.
1oz Baileys Irish Cream
Shake the two together and serve over ice in a short glass. Enjoy!
Baileys Red Bird
Warning on this one - pineapple juice of course mixed with cream causes a curdling effect. You are going to get a texture in this drink.
1oz pineapple juice
Simple shake the ingredients together, and serve over ice.
Blend 50ml Baileys, 50ml milk, a large dash of honey with 3 to 4 strawberries and 2 to 3 ice-cubes.
Pour over rushed ice and garnish with a strawberry.
10 ml grenadine syrup
1/2 oz Baileys® Irish cream
1/2 oz DeKuyper® Buttershots liqueur
Pour the buttershots and Baileys into a shot glass. (let them mix)
Add grenadine to form a perfect nipple in the bottom of the shot glass.
Take as shooter, lick nipple from bottom of glass.
You can buy Baileys from every supermarket for about £17.49 for a 1 litre bottle and for about £10.99 for a 70cl (700ml) bottle but I have seen various offers on that bottle dropping the price just under £10. you can also buy bottles of Baileys from Off licences for about the same price as in most supermarkets.
I find Baileys Irish cream to be a very nice refreshing drink that can be drunk in a number of different situations and occassions. I would tell anyone who hasnt tried it to have a try and see what they think. If they don't like it then they can leave it there. Baileys is the number one irish cream drink.
