Advantages: Easy to drink, great in cocktails.
Disadvantages: Gives you a blue tongue if you drink too much.
Back when it was my 18th birthday, I had decided to host a cocktail party. As i was researching different cocktails, the ones that seemed to stand out to me were the fruity ones which often were bright coloured. When researching ingredients for these coktails I found that Blue Bols appeared in many, therefore I decided to buy it for the very first time. At the time I had no idea what it would be like, but my mother and sister both had told me it was nice with Lemonade.
Blue bols is available at supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco and costs around a £10 however, it is quite often on offer. £10 for a 500ml bottle however is a decent price and I found that a bottle does go quite a long way with cocktails, unless your going crazy. The product also is available in most off licences, however the prices vary and often is more expensive than in supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco. Blue bols comes in a transparant glass bottle, which is quite pretty and shows off the beautiful deep blue coloured alcohol. I believe it automatically looks summery, and quite yummy! Blue bols, however is quite a high percent in alcohol and is 21% therefore it would be suggested that mixing it is the best idea, whether thats in certain cocktails or just mixed with Lemonade, coke whatever you prefer. I personally recommend Blue bols and lemonade.
Now as I was hosting a cocktail party, Blue bols was involved in a few of my cocktails. Two favourites of mine was my own version of the beautiful fruity cocktail purple rain, this involved Blue bols, Cherry flavoured Sourz and topped up with Lemonade. Another favourite cocktail of mine involving Blue Bols is Blue lagoon, this involved Blue bols, vodka and again topped up with Lemonade. Both these cocktails being fruity, and also looking lovely and summery! Both tasting great, and easy to drink. Though this may not be a good idea, as they taste that good you don't exactly realise how much alcohol you are consuming and before you know it, drunk! But that seems to be the case with most cocktails. But being a student, that is my idea of fun!
On making those cocktails, I'd probably suggest one shot of Blue bols, then a shot of the other mixer (Sourz or vodka) and then top the drink up with lemonade depending on how strong you would like your drink.
Blue bols now is one of my favourite drinks, with a lovely fruity taste. I often drink this and would recommend it to people wanting to make cocktails as it is great or to those who love a fruity drink (Blue bols and lemonade). The only disadvantage to Blue bols is the fact that if you drink a lot, it will leave you with a blue tongue for the night which may not be the best look on a night out! But that is the only fault I have with the drink, apart from that it is fab.
Thank you for reading my review.
Summary: A beautiful and fruity summer drink, a personal favorite of mine.
