Caribbean Twist Shaken Pina Colada
Advantages: GREAT VALUE
I have recently tried out the Caribbean Twist Pina Colada drink and this is my review.
I first came across the Caribbean Twist drinks at my daughters hen night last year. She had bought a lot of bottles of ready-made cocktail drinks to give out to her guests and I really liked the taste of them all. One of my favourite cocktails is a Pina Colada which is pineapple based. I only usually ever drink it when I am in Spain or on holiday somewhere hot.
My daughter recently bought a bottle of the Caribbean Twist Pina Colada for us to share as she remembered I liked the bottles of ready made cocktails at her hen night. She paid around £2 for the bottle which gave us a glass and a half each of cocktail. The bottle is made of glass and is 700ml in size.
My daughter bought the bottle of Caribbean Twist ready made cocktail in a local branch of Asda supermarket but I have also seen it in Tesco as well as in my local off license so I think it is quite a popular drink and can be found easily.
The Caribbean Twist range has other ready made cocktails in it such as a Mango, Orange and Passion fruit cocktail which I have also tried and think it is a very nice drink to. I think for the price these bottles of drinks cost they are a great value drink and are a nice drink to give your guests if you are having a dinner party.
The bottle is very easy to open and it does not have a cork or anything in it so you only need to screw off the lid on the top of the bottle. The drink has a very strong smell which I can smell as soon as I am pouring it into my glass. It smells very sweet and quite alcoholic but the Caribbean Twist Pina Colada does not have too much strong alcohol in it and it is only 4% alcohol/volume.
I put a lot of crushed ice into my Caribbean Twist Pina Colada as I do not think it is the type of drink that is very nice if it is warm at all. The smell of the pineapple in the drink is very noticeable and it makes the over all smell of the drink very sweet. I can also smell the rum in the drink.
The taste of the Caribbean Twist Pina Colada is very sweet but this is the way the cocktail usually is so it does not put me of. I can tell straight away that the pineapple juice in the Caribbean Twist drink is not fresh pineapple juice as I am so used to drinking fresh pineapple juice that I can tell the difference easily. It does not put me off from the drink though and I think it tastes very nice.
There is a strong taste of coconut in the drink to which I think goes very well with the taste of the white rum which might be a bit bitter otherwise. I am not that keen on the taste of rum by itself so I am pleased about the coconut flavour of the drink which calms the rum flavour down a bit. I think this is because the coconut flavour is quite sweet.
I really like the Caribbean Twist Pina Colada but it is not as nice as the real thing. A real Pina Colada costs a lot more than £2 though and I think for the low price this drink costs it is a good value for money drink. I would recommend giving it a try out and I think it is a really nice refreshing drink that makes a nice party drink.
