Nutty, sweet and something you must try

Advantages: lots of uses, good, unusual flavour. Cocktails, baking
Disadvantages: hard to find
Frangelico is a hazelnut flavoured liqueur which is made in Italy. Apparently the recipe dates back 300 years and was originally made by monks, hence the distinctive bottle shape.
As you can see from the picture it comes in a brown bottle shaped like a monks habit and even has the rope belt! The main labelling is yellow.
If you like the flavour of hazelnuts, you are going to like this drink! It's sweet, nutty and very moreish. There are numerous ways you can use this liquer but I like to drink it! I really love it in coffee (think alcoholic hazelnut syrup!) and when I just fancy a drink on a Friday night I'll mix it with Diet Coke but you can basically mix it with any type of cocktail. I haven't tried it yet but was thinking it would go really well with a splash of Baileys and milk/cream over ice for a hazelnut version of a "screaming orgasm" type cocktail yum!
I haven't seen this in supermarkets, I think a previous reviewer said they bought it in Waitrose. We stock it in our family owned drinks shop in Devon and its a good regular seller. Some of our customers use it for baking and I have been given a recipe for "Hazelnut and Chocolate Cake" which I will be certainly adding a good slug of Frangelico to!
Summary: Not for everyone but if you like nuts then you have to try it!
