Coconut Rum....Yes Please!!!

Advantages: Coconut flavour rum drink, many uses
Disadvantages: Can be quite moreish and sickly at the same time
I don't know what made me start drinking this in my youth, I guess I had probably watched too many episodes of Only Fools and Horses and saw how sophisticated Del Boy looked with an orange coloured drink and lots of tacky umbrellas sticking out of it or something. My drink of choice when I was about 16-18 was Malibu and pineapple, very sweet but sickly, and expensive when buying from a pub or a club but I didn't care and I would drink lots of it (I am not condoning underage drinking in any way folks). I have recently revisited this drink when I saw an advertisement for the new Malibu Winter Limited Edition with Coconut Flakes (like orange juice with bits but better). I have always been a lover of coconut and coconut flavoured things from bountys to sprinkling coconut on top of my homemade apple crumbles to coconut face wash; I love the smell, the crunchiness and the taste, so a coconut rum drink was just the icing on the cake for me.
==What is it?==
Malibu is a white rum with coconut extract flavouring, it's made in Canada(Yes the totally tropical taste of Canada folks!) and it has an alcohol content of 21.0%(40 proof). It is one of the many brands under the Pernod Ricard banner which has the likes of Absolut Vodka and Pernod on its books. The rum its self is colourless and it has a strong coconut smell and taste. Malibu has a shelf life of two years and one year from opening. Malibu is available in eight different flavours; original, sunshine(with citrus flavouring), mango, island melon, pineapple, passionfruit, tropical banana, Malibu red (flavoured with Tequila) and for a limited time only, Malibu Winter.
The ingedients are Water, HFCS(High-fructose corn syrup), Caribbean Rum and Natural Coconut
==The Packaging & Price==
Malibu comes in a white bottle with a brown screw top lid with a picture of a sunset or sunrise and two palm trees. Prices range, as do the sizes of the bottle from the miniature at £2.00 to the 1.5 litre bottle at £33.00 and these can be bought at most places such as; grocers, supermarkets and off licenses.
With there being so many things you can do with Malibu it is always nice to have a bottle in the fridge, I sometimes make fruit salads with a splash of Malibu and it gives it that lovely coconutty rum flavour through it, it contrasts really well with all of the fruit. I also like to mix it with Jagermeister and pineapple to make "A Surfer on Acid", tastes delicious! Or I just have it on its own with pineapple, I find it goes best with pineapple more than any other mixer. If you haven't tried the truly tropical taste of erm Canada yet, then I suggest you do so, especially if you like coconut.
