****Monin Vanilla Syrup****
What is it? this syrup is the perfect accompaniment to coffee. I use it at home, ask for shots of it in coffee shops and enjoy it with my partner. We are addicted to Costa coffee's vanilla latte and regularly visit Costa to get one. I first spotted this in Morrisons when they were on offer down the coffee aisle. I was searching for some ground coffee and came across the syrup bottles. It was £1.99 so I thought I'd give it a go at home.
If you like Vanilla, you will love this. You could put it in regular coffee, latte and cappuccino or any other crazy coffee out there. It's sweet so use it as a replacement to sugar. This particular bottle is 250ml as RRP's at £2.99. I have seen it in Morrisons and Waitrose and yet to see it in any other supermarkets. I looked on-line and Tesco and Asda don't stock in on-line. You can in fact buy these bottles of syrup from Costa coffee in a set of four with different flavours, or buy a bigger bottle on Amazon for around £8.
The syrup is a light golden colour and when poured it is thick and wonderful. It doesn't smell very pleasant as it is so concentrated. It smells like vanilla flavouring does. It does however smell perfect when added to your coffee. It comes with a little leaflet attached to the neck of the bottle on a string. This guide will tell you how much Monin to add and gives some different recipes for coffees. It told me to use too much on my first try. The vanilla was just too overpowering and sweet so I tried again and found that two teaspoons was just the right amount.
****What do I do with it?****
I always use it in latte. I heat up some milk whisking it lightly to make the milk slightly frothy. I then pour it into a mug, add 2 tea spoons of Monin Vanilla Syrup and then add a heaped teaspoon of coffee granules. If I had an espresso machine then it would be better to use one of those as the taste would be that much more incredible.
It has a special cap in the neck of the bottle to stop you from pouring too much out at once. I prefer to pour it onto a spoon to get the right measurement of syrup or you could ruin your coffee by adding too much. I like the way to bottle is shaped too, it looks very Italian and looks great sitting in the cupboard next to the coffee. I have tried other syrups in the range, but nothing compares to the Vanilla.
You can also buy these other flavours online and some are sold in Morrisons too:
*Pain d'epices (gingerbread)
Can't imagine strawberry coffee to be nice? but It would be a nice syrup to use in a cooler drink with ice and milk blended up. You don't necessarily need to add it to coffee, there isn't a rule that you should. These could be used for milkshake flavourings or to make cocktails. The possibilities are endless.
Coffee is an important part of my day and I love drinking it. Having this syrup is a real luxury to my coffee cupboard. We only use it when making a Latte and enjoy it thoroughly. I definitely recommend this syrup to anyone who loves flavoured coffees. If you want to try before you buy, pop into a coffee shop who offer these syrups in their coffee and try one. I've tried lots of different flavours and they are all brilliant. I give this product 5/5 stars for bringing a little sunshine into our lives.
