My first ever memory of drinking an alcoholic drink is a fond one as it was at my dad's wedding. The drink in question was Smirnoff Ice and I still occasionally buy it now.
Smirnoff ice is available to purchase in two different size bottles, 70cl or a smaller bottle. It is widely available to purchase whether out on the town for a night out or in supermarkets. It costs a lot more in pubs and clubs than it does in the supermarket, supermarket prices are never usually more than £3 for the bigger bottle and they are regularly on either 2 for £5 or 3 for £8 offers.
The larger bottle is the one I will be reviewing today as it's the one I purchase most often. The large glass bottle is a trademark of alcopops such as this one, the glass in this one seems to feel a lot more toughened than other alcopop bottles I've come across. It has the very familiar Smirnoff red branding on the front of the bottle and a label on the back displaying all of the normal information you get with alcohol products. The lid is a metal screw top lid and it's easy to break the seal on the first time you open it.
The drink itself has a cloudy white colour to it, looking a lot like cloudy lemonade. Once the bottle has been opened there is an apparent sweet smell to it. I personally like to keep my drink in the fridge as I prefer cold alcopops and tend to drink this more over the summer months as it does have a thirst quenching refreshing taste to it. On the first taste you are instantly met with the sweetness of the lemon in the drink and the fizziness does knock you back for six if you aren't used to the taste. Although this is a vodka based alcopop you can't really tell as there is no taste of vodka in any way in the drink nor does it smell like it either. Overall it simply tastes of a lemonade drink but sweeter and fizzier.
I personally love sitting out in the sun in the early evening during the summer with a glass of Smirnoff ice, I find it very refreshing. If you like lemonade, give it a go!
Summary: Lovely summer alcoholic drink
