A Refreshing Summer Drink..
Member Name: angelboouk
Advantages: perfect for the summer, nice taste, low alcohol, pleasant and sweet to drink
Disadvantages: a bit more expensive than other drinks, not much alcohol flavour, a bit sickly after a few
Smirnoff Ice is an alcopop type drink produced by popular vodka brand Smirnoff. This drink has a 4% alcohol content. It is described as 'a vodka mixed drink with the classic taste of lemon'.
Smirnoff Ice is available in 275ml single bottles and a larger 70cl bottle. This drink is simply presented in a typical Smirnoff Vodka designed glass bottle. The difference is in the colour of drink. 100ml of Smirnoff Ice has 64 calories and 8g of carbohydrates.
Smirnoff Ice is widely available in supermarkets, pubs, clubs and local shops. Expect to pay around £5.00 for a pack of four x 275ml bottles or £3.00 for the large 70cl bottle from supermarkets. Pub and club prices will vary.
I very rarely drink but when I do wish to have a tipple, I rarely opt for anything heavy. I favour fruity alcopops over wine and beer. If at a party or on a night out, I usually vary my drinks between WKD, Bacardi Breezer and Smirnoff Ice. I get bored of drinking the same thing so like a bit of variety. This does seem to be a popular drink.
Smirnoff Ice is a cloud white colour and is best served ice cold. I am happy to drink this from the bottle using a straw and find that it lasts me longer this way. When the bottle is opened, a light fizzy hiss is noticeable. This alcopop has a nice fizz which isn't harsh or overpowering but it certainly isn't weak. It is just right in my opinion.
Smirnoff Ice has a pleasant smell of real lemons and I would say that you really need to like the taste of lemons to appreciate this drink. I do like the taste of Smirnoff Ice as it is deliciously sweet. The lemon taste is very strong and whilst it is refreshing, it does have quite a strong, sweet sugary flavour to it which some might find a little much. I find that the sweetness takes the edge of the tangy lemon a little making this drink more palatable. I personally like it. The vodka taste is very diluted by the lemon and I only notice it as a light aftertaste. This is fine for me as I'm not a fan of strong spirits. The alcohol content is low but care should still be taken with drinking too many of these alcopops.
I find Smirnoff Ice to be pleasant, thirst quenching drink. It is one which I would opt for on a warm day as it is light and refreshing. As I am not a big drinker, I find that one or two alcopops gives me a feeling of being a bit tipsy. To be honest, I wouldn't drink several of these in one sitting as they are very sweet. I find that drinking one and then switching to something different is better for me as Smirnoff Ice becomes quite sickly if drunk it high quantities.
Smirnoff Ice is a little bit more expensive than WKD but I find the quality of the drink to be worth the higher cost. It is a sweet, refreshing lemon drink perfect for consuming during the Summer. I recommend it.
