I first came across this in a bar at University! Not a fan of Tequila, I was a little skeptical, but the creamy pink look of it made it appear a little more appealing! It is a strawberry cream liqueur - and is absolutely gorgeous!
It is 17% in strength but is extremely creamy that you don't really notice the alcohol (and you certainlycan't taste that it is tequila!!), and in fact think it is a bit like drinking a strawberry milkshake!! It is best served chilled with ice, but can also be mixed into cocktails.
I have never been able to find it in the shops, but you can buy it online for about £15. Last time I bought it online, I got a free pair of tequila rose flip flops and drink mats with it, so definitely worth shopping around for the best deal.
Also comes in Cocoa flavour - which I am yet to try, but imagine it will be a bit like chocolate milkshake ;)
The bottle itself is lovely - a black bottle with pink labels. Only problem with this is you can't see how much is left in the bottle.
I first tried Tequila Rose when I went to a restaurant when I was on holiday in Portugal last year. I was offered the drink after my meal and took the offer as it looked quite nice, a lovely creamy pinky colour.
So the taste of the drink, its absolutely delicious!! Its basically a strawberry cream liquer (17% alcohol) made with Tequila but the taste of tequila isn't really noticable (I'm not too keen on Tequila yet I love this). I had the drink when it had been chilled and with ice, it does say its best to serve it this way.
So I asked the waiter what it was actually called and if I could buy it in any of the shops. They said I should be able to buy it in some of them. It took me a little while to find it but I did eventually and paid about 16 euros for a 700ml bottle (£15ish now) so it's not exactly cheap but is the kind of price you would pay for say a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream. The bottle is really nice aswell, an elegant black bottle, quite classy really!
I recently ran out of my Tequila Rose (even though it keeps for up for 6 months in the fridge) so was looking on the Internet to see if I could buy it as I haven't seen it in any of my local supermarkets. There are many websites where you can buy it, costs between £14 and £16. There are also lots of suggestions for cocktails, some of these are said to be really nice!
So if you like tequila, strawberries, creamy alcoholic drinks i.e. Baileys, or just liquers in general, I would definately recommend trying this! It's worth the money you pay for it and is a really unique delicious drink!!
