A reefy visit back to my teenage years!

There have been phases of my life when my choice of alcoholic drink hasn't been particularly great! I don't have one specific drink that I will order every time or drink at home and I do like to vary it although I don't mix my drinks I do like to drink a variety of alcoholic beverages. Alcopops are one of those products which I can take or leave but there are times when an ice cold Smirnoff Ice does actually go down quite well!
In the Summer I was at a friend's barbeque and the choice of drink was limited either cans of lager which are my last choice or a range of alcopops all of which were fruit flavoured. I opted for an Orange Vodka Reef which had taken me back quite a few years and I am surprised they still make them she later confessed to have bought them from the local social club as she'd forgotten to get anything other than lager!
Orange Vodka Reef is classed as a natural juice based vodka drink so basically orange juice and vodka but just in an alcopop form. It comes in a tall, slender clear glass bottle with a very simple orange label together with the blue 'Reef' logo. On the back of the bottle there is the relatively small list of ingredients together with that all important message about drinking which I trust most of us adults all abide by!
The alcopop itself is obviously water like in terms of its consistency and when you smell the drink it does have a very orange type smell with that after scent of vodka. It isn't carbonated. It of course smells incredibly pleasant and the orangeness manages to cover up the strong almost potent aroma that vodka can have. It is of course incredibly innocent looking, it is orange in colour and looks just like orange juice. You do need to make sure you have shaken it up first as I have noticed some sediment can be at the bottom of the bottle.
The taste of the alcopop is quite sweet which is what I knew and expected which is fine and there is definitely an element of that real orange juice taste which is quite pleasant and when ice cold they are actually quite refreshing. As for the vodka well it is almost not existent! Yes, you can just about tell that it is there but once you've had a few sips it does feel that you are just drinking orange juice which if course can lead you to get a bit carried away!
The only thing that I have found apart from that they are very easy to drink as they don't taste alcoholic is that if you drink them at room temperature or slightly warm they can taste a bit sickly and if you don't shake the bottle up it can feel a bit bitty. However, as long as you shake the bottle and drink when ice cold then it actually serves as quite a refreshing summery drink.
Would I recommend?! Well actually I would. If wanting a summery drink which is easy to drink and doesn't sit heavy once drunk then this should be tried just as long as you can find it available to buy as it doesn't seem incredibly popular anymore. I wouldn't go out my way to buy Orange Vodka Reef so for that reason I can only give 4 stars but it is nice every now and then as a re-visit to my teenage years!
