Advantages: gave us the money

Disadvantages: messed up the payments, settup two accounts for same thing

Two Years ago My girlfriend and I decided tohave a fitted kitchen put in as the old one was falling to peices, So we picked out a kitchen design and fitting company to install our new kitchen.

Every thing went great we got the finance the fitting was arranged and away we went, 1 month later we had the kitchen fitters ringing us as they had not yet been paid or the money had not cleared into their account, they wanted to know when they where going to get paid which is quite understandable, however our first payment had been taken out of the bank account so as we had got the finace through the fitting company all we could do was advise them to contact the lenders ie first national.

The following month another payment was taken but it was double the agreed amount including a missed payment charge of £20 so we contacted the bank and was told we had not made the first payment they said they could not find it on their system. We had to go thriugh the whole photo copying statements process and sending them of to them, mean while another single payment went out in the same month when we queried this we was told everything was ok there was a computer problem at their end and it would be sorted out.

Eventualy it emerged that first national had set up two accounts for the one purchase but this took about 4 months to sort out, so we got another loan and paid of the first national loan as we were feed up of being messed about. That next month we had a payment go out to them even though we had paid everything we did notice however it was a smaller amount than before so we rang to query and after much transfering of departments we got through to a manager who explained that our account had been set up in two one for the cost of the kitchen and one for the interest so we stilled owd them money again after much disscution the manager found that we had paid in full but it had only gone into the cost of the kitchen account so there was money just sitting there gaining interest for first national.

The problem was sorted it still took a month to get the extra payment back of them and we now know never to use them again, And never recomend them to anyone

It is so stressful when something like this happens. In the past if I have needed a loan I tend to use my bank (Lloyds) or Direct Line. I have never had a moment's worry with either.
