Advantages: They loan us money we desperatley need

Disadvantages: You need their help, and can't survive without it. They don't care how they treat you

My own personal experience with the student loan company was quite worrying and left me very frustrated.

I transferred Uni at the beginning of Semester 2 in the first year. I notified my LEA who in turn notified the loans company, who then asked me to confim this, which I did.

This all seemed fine, apart from when it came to receiving the third part of my loan in May. The SLC then said they didn't have to pay it because I had changed uni's, even though I had contacted them and my LEA and everything was supposedly sorted.

I spoke to a lot of people at the loan company and each one of them treated me with an unprofessional attitude.

It seemed as if they couldn't be bothered with me, and as if I was asking for their own personal money. This really annoyed me as I could tell that they had never been in the situation like this: waiting on this company to hand out the money originally promised, which i was relying on to buy my food with!

I felt frustrated because I had gone through all the right steps to obtaining a loan from them which they had originally agreed to and they then refused to supply it!

Fortunatley they sorted it out and I received my loan in the middle of June, only 6 months after the last installment!
