As a student I find student loans a necessity but i also feel that they do not cover ones needs for the year. The amount I was given has barely covered my first semester. I pay my own fees but not accommodation and have found that I have still needed to use an overdraft facility in order to get through the first semester. The strange thing is that the loan is split into three. Therefore the starting up costs of university are not taken into account as the three installments are of equal value. I believe that first of all the installments should be geared up to the first term being a higher amount (although some people may see this as a better way to get drunk!) and the later installments be scaled down a little.
