Going to university in London, I receive about £4500 under the new government student loan scheme. For my first year this has been perfectly adequate, but then halls in London are compare favourably.

The great thing about these loans is that they are interest free (but inflation linked). I don't know whether I am going to be able to manage solely on a student loan this year as private rents are extortionate in London - a fact I was aware of before I took up my university place.

Some students take up the loan even if they are being totally supported financially by their relatives and then invest it for the duration of their course - I wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
