i completed my degree 5 years ago now and have just finished paying back my student loan.

Whilst at uni I was inelligible for a Grant due to my folks apparently earning too much in the year before I went to uni, but then when I came to going to uni, they were unable to support me. The student loans helped out a lot, but i did also have to get part time work.

I agree with some that the government should have paid for my education, but there is only so much that they can pay for...i could go on and on about politics but this opinion is not about that, it is abou Student loans.

I havent had any problems with the SLC and would recommend any new student to use them as the repayments are minimal and can be deferred once you start work anyway if you think that you cannot afford to pay them back straight away.
