Advantages: Good for the time being

Disadvantages: But more considerartion for the expences of living in large cities

I had a very depressing thought one day. I suddenly realised that once I finish University I would have to look forward to a debt of £20000 to pay off via the 'graduate's tax'. On the other hand, I could not have a student loan at all and try to live off my overdraft. That, I know I can't live by.
With the ever increasing numbers of students entering HE it is important to note that in this day and age, nothing can come for free. Grants were feasible when only the few went, but now, it's all change. The old grant system cannot work under the present circumstances. The loans system is a good way to compromise. Not that it is perfect. Especially for those students living in London, the loan that we are given is always not enough. But that may be a small price to pay for the degree in the end.
