Advantages: you get a car for bad credit
Disadvantages: over priced, lengthy process, number of staff you see
Well what can I say about YCC, I have bad credit and I really needed a car, so I thought I would go there and get a car.
I filled in the online form (which if you did you got so much cash back £250 I think) and someone phoned me back saying yes of course you can have a car, come in at 10.00 and we will sort it out.
I collected all my information and off I went to the Leeds branch and waited. They then took all my information and came back after an hour and said no. "You can't have that. You don't earn enough"
"But you said that it was no problem & yes I earned enough"
They had got the information wrong, off they went and checked their figures.
I got a good look round the cars (several times) and again. I hadn't made my mind up when they came to give me the figures. It was what I expected to pay each month. What it covered however, limited my choice. Saying that I found a car I really liked and was at the right price.
I wasn't offered a test drive (and didn't ask) and I wasn't shown the engine(not that I would have known), being endorsed by the AA I didn't think it would be a problem.
I had to request the AA cover voucher, and I couldn't get cashback for applying online because they had to input my details twice because they got it wrong, so I hadn't offically applied online.
Another two hours later, papers signed and off I went - straight onto M1 in Leeds, I had only been driving three months & here I was, new car, new motorway, no Tax, hardly any petrol, an experience.
I took the car over to my brothers a couple of days later, he told me that the engine was misfiring and the gear box was damaged. So off I went back to YCC it took them 3 hours to tell me I would have to bring it back for the gear box changing. A week later, car goes in for four days and comes back better than ever. I took it to the Isle of Lewis last month and I can't complain about the car now.
Summary: I wouldn't use them again, but beggars can't be choosers
