Double Glazing in General
by Smithandjones
Very happy with all the work smiths have done for me over the years and the windows I had done most recently I am over the moon with. They look great, keep the house extremely warm and we were very pleased with the price they offered me. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and gave us some very good advice when it come to window ... designs. We then had a survey which was done by a really nice guy and then had it installed by a husband and wife team which have fitted our last 2 jobs and again they did not disappoint us. The only bad thing we have experienced with this company is that we need our reference number before they can locate our file which I understand is a security protection thing however it can be a little awkward to find it when needed. Overall a very satisfied customer Read the complete review |

Safestyle UK

I couldn't believe the price for a new front door- however the salesman told me how very amazing the door was and how the fire brigade even had trouble breaking them down...not reallly something one wants to hear! I did, after some careful consideration agree to have the door fit before I would decide on them quoting for the the ... windows...and I am soooo glad I waited!
In the first instance, I booked time off work to stay at home for them, only for the installation controller to cancel and apologise profusely. "It happens" I thought. They rescheduled for 1 week on the Friday afternoon after so I could wait for them without having to take time off work as I finish at lunch on Fridays. Friday afternoon arrived as I dutifully ensured the cats were safely stored away from noise, laid down dust sheets etc. After a couple of hours of waiting, the phone rang and it was the controller once again...he said it would now be Saturday morning at 9am if that was ok? I agreed. Only pleased that they would eventually have my door fit. At 8 am, I prepared the house once again for them and waited...and waited...at 1pm the phone rang! The would be there very soon...and apologies for running late. At 5pm - they called again apologising saying they would not be able to make it until the following Saturday! I told them if they didn't come the next Saturday, I would be cancelling the installation and payment. The next Saturday arrived, once again, I dutifully prepared the house at 8am...and waited....and waited some more. Imagine my surprise when the phone rang at 12 apologising saying they would be late, I told them I had removed the door and that if it they didn't arrive that day, I would bill them for my work. They eventually arrived at 4pm, smashed the old frame out (probably using their foreheads as the fitters were no more than apes!) and fit the new door using a Manchester screwdriver (hammer). It then took them 3 months to re-render the outside of the door frame where they had smashed it with their heads , after several cancelled appointments - even lies that they had been and that I wasn't there! They finally finished it. In conclusion, I wouldn't let Safestyle change a plug! Read the complete review |

Safestyle UK

Having seen the adverts on the TV 'buy one get one free' concept we decided to ask Safestyle to quote for replacement windows and patio door. The salesman arrived with samples in tow and proceeded to tell us all about their wonderful specifications etc, ie not other company can supply this that or the other. We eventually got to the ... point of pricing and low and behold the price given was £22,000. Now, considering we only live in a small detatched house with 11 small ish window it was a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless within a couple of minutes he had bought the price down to a pricely sum of £16,000.. I told him that was ridiculous and so he phoned his manager for advice and the price came down to £7,000 but only if we bought today. Throughout our sales meeting the saleman continously told us that it didn't matter to him is we didn't buy he still got paid, very professional behaviour NOT... I could go on but I warn prospective buyers of double glazing to be mindful when inviting such a company into your home. I am not vulnerable, elderly or have no learning disabilities so able to tell him 'no thanks', others may not be as confident and could have possible accepted the first quote. Disgraceful behaviour Safestyle. Hasten to add that since we have obtained a number of quotes from more respectable companies and we haven't had the same experience at all and the price was between £4,000 and £5,000 (for the same spec). The buy one get on gree concept is misleading also so I would be very cautious in recommmending this commpany. To Safestyle I would say.. Stop employing the antiquated sales patter, reeducate your salesteam in good customer service techniques, stop advertising on prime time TV (you might save some money) Stop telling people its a BOGOF product, and drop your prices.
