Advantages: Possibly none from what I can find.

Disadvantages: Plenty

2 and a half hours in our house.

Tries to get sale that day by offering discounts that are "only availble" just now (when he goes back to office, he has to pass the "token" onto another rep).

They offer "discount" if you enter into high APR contract to pay back 3x as much over a 10 year period. In fact, they really push this (kick-backs from that bank are much bigger than discount to customer). It seems they cannot discount any price unless you go for the credit agreement. Very very inethical getting people to sign up into long term debt, and trying to convince by giving £1000 saving. BTW, they have a great little flip chart on how APR has nothing to do with interest on what you have borrowed... ummm

Also, PPP (payment protection plan) MUST be taken, even though we were not eligible. £600. Please see various information over the last few months about how PPP is not valid under most circumstances.

Signed for a laugh (just in case good price, and to take advantage of the discounts for the day), cancelled immediately the next day, once we found out how bad things were.

Extremely rude on phone, explained they couldn't do the work anyway because it needs to be wooden frame due to conservation area, which they don't do. Last thing I am told is they would refund cheque. Have letter of confirmation too.

....

Cheque comes out of bank.
Not recieved money back, so phone them.
I am passed 7 times, and had to explain what was going on 7 times.
They look up my details, and can't even find the right info - they have my name written incorrectly....

Still waiting on deposit coming back.

UPDATE::

Cheque has now been returned, finally, although it was taken out of my partners account, and refunded to me in my name. We are not married, but we have the money back, so lets not complain there.

The cheque was cashed even thought the company told me IT COULD NOT DO THE WORK (we are in a conservation area, and require Wooden frames. They checked for permissions, and found the flaw). I was told that I would have to wait 30 days to receive my money back. I didn't accept this. They said "it was company policy". It might be more acceptable if they didn't know that they couldn't do the work.

I requested documentation regarding this policy, under the Freedom of Information Act. Although the woman confirmed by letter (when I recieved the cheque) that they would get someone to contact me regarding the policy, I still have not heard from them... I will be following up this matter through FOI.

By the way, we accepted the agreement because we had nothing to lose: Although there was a delay due to the cashing of the cheque, we weren't sure if they were actually giving a good deal. We found out after that they were not giving a good deal, hence we cancelled.

All in all, I am not happy with both the way the comoany took my money without supplying any goods, as well as the way I was treated when asking for my money back, and for information about why my money was taken.

Further, there are so many departments (both real and fictional it would seem, after asking to be put through to "Living Design" were I was speaking earlier, I was told that department was axed 2 years ago.), that they don't recognise "Anglian Home Improvements".

The Legal Department has nothing to do with Sales, which has different systems from Customer Service, which can't correspond with the local offices. Nobody was willing to assist me to find the right people to talk to, and everyone said that "it was nothing to do with the xxx department".

In conclusion, go with WINDOW QUOTER.
They found fast, friendly people in my area, that quoted nearly HALF cheaper than Anglian, wooden sash frames, with nice looking windows (IMO). We are now going with them!
I hope this helps someone!

Summary: Windowquoter will get you something really good.

So wish I had read this first, before even embarking on the Anglian Windows crusade, I am beginning to feel like one of those hobbits from the Lord of the Rings on a quest!

PS: We have decided to go with a local Sash Window company to have our original sash windows refurbished and draught proofed.
