Advantages: None, None, None

Disadvantages: Promise you the earth, Dont Communicate, Customer Care - non existant

First of all I get a recommendation from a personal friend (in Daventry) to use Bryco – so I do – and they at first don’t agree to do the job as it is out of area. Fine.

Then I get a call from Bryco who says they will do it and they send a Sales Manager to my house and I spend an hour of my time (14/02/2003) with him to give me a quote. This (quote of £2364.00) I accept verbally and confirm it by the following Tuesday by signing their presigned contract and sending the required cheques for both the deposit of £236.00 and a warranty cheque for £25.00. These cheques were both cashed and I was expecting to hear from their surveyors.

After 2 weeks of waiting I phone and find out that they are not going to do the job. Everyone seems to know bar me. Well, strange that I have a signed contract that their representatives have accepted, confirmed by the encashment of my cheques. Also strange that no one had the courtesy to inform me that there may be a problem.

Then 3-4 days later after having spent several days trying to establish what the hell is going on – worrying that they have done a bunk and gone bust – no such luck really – I phone their HO and get told that the issue had been handed to someone to resolve and am then asked to "sit tight" for 30 mins and my call would be returned and to this day that call never got returned.

The following day their represenative a northern region director called and confirmed he would be doing the Job, as it wasn’t a problem for him, his crews or his director. Further that he himself personally would arrange the surveyor and would again let me know of the date. Then by Thursday 6th March some 3 weeks after the original quote and 2 weeks of having MY money in THEIR bank account – I was not only disgusted at what had happened so far but even worse I phoned their HO again to find out what was happening and got some snotty unfriendly and antagon
istic clerk telling me that orgsanising a surbey could only be done by thier surveying dept and was nothing to do with that representive I spoke to earlier, but she she would pass a message on – then she arrogantly handed the phone over to someone else to continue the call as she was obviously not happy or courteous enough to finish it. Shame really. When asked for a name I heard the second girl call her name out but when asked what name to give was told give a different.

That girl didnt have the right attitude to be any where near a phone never mind a customer. Further no one with the exception of their Sales Manager had the decency to return the several calls made. This had now not only cost me calls, anxiety over lost monies, interest on that cash from my account, wasted time listening to their sales pitch and how good their company was??????? Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Santa Claus could not have laughed more… and wasted 3 weeks of my time. Furthermore it is still my intention to get another company to do the work and charge them for the difference (estimated to be approximately £1000.00, as I feel a serious breach of contract existed. They will not only hear from my solicitor but hopefully from each and every consumer programme I could think of – Watchdog, Rogue Traders and their ilk.

I wish now I had taken notice of the DooYoo website comments on Bryco at the time – it has been proved to be clearly very true.

THANKS AGAIN BRYCO FOR WASTING MY TIME. OH AND CASHING MY CHEQUES TOO.

Thanks for nothing Bryco Windows

Nb I have just heard that THEY are to return my deposit, however I believe there is valid contract in place and THEY should honour it in the way a contract should be honoured.

Put it in writing and give them a date to respond by. Inform them that you're contacting trading standards and the DTI if they haven't responded in writing by that date. Then contact them anyway.

Welcome to dooyoo, hope you have fun here, read lots, rate everything and just muck in where you can! :o)

Bad experience. No reputable supplier would ask for deposits etc up front.
