Please DO NOT USE red lion construction, the part owner John Platt will give a low quote and promise the world to secure the job but in reality will not finish anything correctly to the standard expected. He will only work with cash and give any form of receipt, he always has an excuse to leave after he has been given cash ie spare parts, more sand / cement / wood etc etc but does not return for days. He has since told me I need more work carries out and demands more cash.John Platt is an ignorant incompetent man who will let you down constantly, I paid the quote and another £5000 of asking for a garage conversion but was forced to get another builder / company to complete the work.Red lion construction should be permitted to continue to operate.

Meersbrook construction charged me £2.5K more than the estimate (of £8k). While the work was being done, I asked the boss to come over several times to discuss the shoddy workmanship, for example, plasterboarding over a cupboard, damaging my new light fitting, breaking my hoover, workers didn't have the right equipment for the job (I bought them a bucket from B&Q to stop them using my wastepaper basket to mix plaster in!), they worked short days (they were on site from 8am, but were sat in the van until 9.30 most days, and they were gone by 4, when I got home from work). I asked Comber and Son (East Grinstead area) for quotations for a number of small jobs. They were a bit expensive but I decided to proceed with one job. Plastering my 20ft x 10 feet lounge for over £900. Firstly they brought a load of material on site to carry out the other work that I had not instructed them to do and they also took up my patio (one of the jobs for which they had quoted) and have refused to relay it. The standard of the plastering was appalling. They did not remove the skirting or the sockets and light switches. There were very uneven patches, dents and some parts just not done. I told them I was not going to pay for that so they ... Read the complete review

After agreeing a price and completion time of 3 weeks (with an army of labour) for a side extension the nightmare began. I paid the 1st installament 7k for a weeks worth of work, materials and labour. After one man working one day, Darren requested a 2nd installament of 2k for 2nd week, it was clear Darren had no idea of being a project manager and was not to be trusted. I paid it as it was in his quote. The job then became drawn out. 3 more days work was completed over a month. Then no contact for the next month. Then came the excuses (all excuses have been seen on rogue traders), heart attack, car wont start etc etc. Now he requests final payment after doing 5 days ... Read the complete review

Had my property "renovated" by them. They left holes in the walls, gloss paint that wouldn't dry because the surfaces hadn't been properly prepped, faulty wiring, a loose and dangerous power socket, a bathroom ceiling that hadn't been painted with waterproof paint and later cracked (photos available if you want to verify it) and failed to meet the deadlines agreed, losing me valuable rental income. Their website claims they provide a high standard of work; their work says otherwise. I wouldn't trust them to renovate a shed. They specialise in "landlord" work, so if you're a landlord, don't use them. You may find yourself with very unhappy tenants.. or worse still a claim for an unsafe property.Would give them minus 1 if I could. Trading Standards, please note!
