Do not use Hunter Brookes bathroom and kitchen fitters! I would just like to warn everyone not to use Hunter Brookes, a bathroom and kitchen company based in Lidlington, Bedfordshire. I have had the worst experience of my life dealing with these people - my job has taken 7 weeks and is still not finished when we were originally told 2.5-3 weeks is all it would take. I have been promised on a number of occasions that my job would be finished that day or for the end of that week, each time has been a lie and I am still waiting. We got estimates from other builders but went with Phil Taylor, mainly on the recommendations of our friends. It was all smiles at the start from him. Chosing a good builder for your extension or project is frankly absoloutely essential, because it becomes very difficult if you get in a bad contractor, who is pretty much a "Rogue Builder" and builds scruffy looking structures. We are just coming to the end of our extension, and although our buiders are certainly not bad, we have definately observed how certain elements of laziness and cost cutting have lead to complications and unsightly features. Please avoid these cowboys at any cost. At first, they act as if they were real professionals. As soon as they have nailed the job, they start to delay your work, while working on other sites at the same time. They never insist, neither they like to have a written-down and binding contract, so they have the free hand to do whatever they want. The quote they give is purposely designed very vaguely, so they can add items for extra charge as they go, thus doubling or tripling the original quote they gave. On the top of that they produce really lowest quality of work at a highly overpriced rate, while utilising the cheapest material on the market, in order to maximise their profit. They are a shame and disgrace for British contractors.
