My experience with Muswell Hill Floors / Muswell Hill Flooring (muswellhillflooring.co.uk) was very mixed. I wouldn't use again. The floor sanding and treating was done to an OK standard - not brilliant with some small areas not properly sanded, but the cost was reasonable. and it was done when agreed.

However, I was faced with several demands for signicant cash up front. Towards the end of the work I unwisely paid over 90%. The job was then left unfinished (a new floor board and piece of skirting to fit). The contractor gave various reasons: he felt I didn't trust him by not paying 100% amount ahead of finishing the work, or he was too busy. I probably ended up a little out of pocket for what was done, and with the last part of the job still to complete. This really does reinforce the advice - don't pay too much upfront.

The contractor also annoyingly, and at the time a little worringly, held onto my house keys for 2 weeks after the job and I had to repeatedly ask for them to be returned. He eventually did.

Summary: OK work, but demanded cash upfront and didn't finish the job.
