Disadvantages: Too many to mention
I can verify that what I am about to say is true and have proof of it. I have countless documents, pictures and video footage of work done by Coldseal. I am happy to make these available to anyone who would like to see them. When choosing our Windows and Conservatory we were very careful. We spent a great deal of time and obtained a number of quotes. We did not take the cheapest price and thought that by choosing a large company to fit our windows and conservatory we would be 'safe'. Apparently not. · Most of the windows had to be refitted due to poor fitting. · The conservatory started to sink after just 18 months due to having inadequate foundations. · As far as Coldseal were concerned it was the builders fault not theirs. They did everything they could to get out putting it right. At one point they tried to convince me that a miracle was occurring and the Conservatory was rising back up out of the ground!! · It took a professional survey and a threat of court, to convince them that ?bunging a bit of concrete underneath? would not solve the problem. It took over a year to finally get them to come out and fix the conservatory. The work was completed in December 2003, 1 year and 4 months (and a whole lot of arguments, tears and stress) after our initial complaint. Before re-building the conservatory, Richard Morby, Coldseals 'Litigation Manager' (07974 362025) agreed to redecorate and put the garden right. Of course it did not happen ? nor did he respond to our e-mails or telephone calls. So, we took Coldseal to small claims court and were awarded £1080. Isn?t that fantastic? Well, it would have been if I had got my paws on it! All I received was a letter telling me that Coldseal had gone into liquidation and that I would not receive any money. They are now Coldseal Group ? still the same name (give or take a group), still the same fitters, still the same pho
ne numbers, web site and customer services etc, etc. To add insult to injury the Conservatory Window-sills have blown and there is nothing I can do - my glossy 10-year guarantee is not worth the paper it is printed on.
