Advantages: None
Disadvantages: You will have many sleepless nights
I can only say that this company has one of the worst customer care I have ever dealt with.
I went through to the showroom just off Newbridge Roundabout in Edinburgh. After a talk with the gentleman that was there, booked for a surveyor (apparently) to come out and measure us up for a new front door and french doors.
The surveyor called and measured up and I signed the Purchase Agreement. I explained to both the gentleman at the showroom and the surveyor that I only had 1 annual day left to take and wanted to be certain that only 1 day would be required for installation, both assured me that this would be no problem.
I phoned 4 times between the surveyor's visit and the delivery date to check various things and also to confirm that the provisional delivery date was still ok. I was told on each occassion that the delivery date was fine, but more alarming, each item I asked to be checked, I was told that "if its on your order, it will be done". That's not what I wanted to hear. I wanted someone to go and check for me, but got nowhere.
The day of the delivery at about 10.15am, I got a phone call to say that one of the doors got damaged in transport, so no-one would be out and asked if they could come the following week. I explained to them my holiday situation, but was told that they could only come during the week. I then suggested that they could at least come out and fit the door that wasn't damaged, I was told that the joiner was away and he would be busy all day. I said that I didn't believe that someone else could take my place in the day's schedule at such short notice, but was told that no-one has took my place. I asked so what does the joiner do when he is supposed to be fitting my doors? I was told that he would finish early for the day.
I told them that the only options I had was to get it fitted on a Saturday or Sunday (not possible, they only fit during the week). My Wife could take the day off, but as she has set holidays, she could take an unpaid holiday and would they be willing to cover the cost? (No they would not). I said the only other option was then to wait till January and I could be able to take a day off. (This was unacceptable to them).
I said the only thing left to do is to cancel. They said that as I signed the Purchase Agreement, I could not cancel. So as it stands, I told them that I didn't want the doors and they are taking me to a small claims court.
Summary: Try somewhere else

- 04/12/06 We too have had our fingers burnt by this company with an almost identical situation. I empathise totally and now I feel we will be going down the same route. Companies like this should not be allowed to operate in such a way.
We suspect that the fitters schedule was somewhat overloaded and us being slotted in at the end of the day just so happened to be the ones being let down. They are extremely unhelpful and obnoxious.
We used them about 4 years ago in our first house with no problems whatsoever, the reason we went back to them again. Cannot believe this has happened.
We will not rest until this is sorted out - watch out UPVC door company |
