We had a major company round to give us an estimate for our windows and front door.The usual salesman came round, measured up and spent an awfully long time trying to sell their product using all of the usual tricks i.e. they gave a ridiculous estimate £18,000 and proceeded to phone their manager who agreed to knock off about £4000 from the original quote which still left a ridiculous £14,000. this is exactly the same as previous experiences with large double glazing firms.
Coincidentally a colleague of mine had had some windows fitted by Minshull windows. He said that other members of his family had also had work done by this firm and were all very pleased.
I contacted Richard from Minshull windows who came round one Saturday to measure up and give a quote. It was a totally different experience as he measured up, explained the products that he used (Rehau) and told us that a quote would be in the post at the end of the week. Sure enough it was and it was less than half the price quoted by the large firm.
We booked Minshull windows to do the job. They came and installed the windows to a high standard, there was hardly any disturbance to the interior decoration. the window surrounds seem to be good quality and are attractive.
In summary, don't be ripped off by big companies charging a fortune when you can get a smaller firm to do the job just as well and save you thousands.
