When buying new pvcu windows and doors make sure that your visiting salesman has a sample to show so that you know what you are buying and know that you are getting TRUE value for money! The follow up to "the sale" should include for surveyor to re-measure and to see if there are any "hidden snags" regarding the install. He will/should go over the sales doc with you to make sure you DO know what you are getting - and make changes if required. The price is set - do not agree to pay for extras...
Some nationals can install within 7/10 days but generally speaking expect to have the work done within 2/3 weeks from point of sale. (Takes time to have them properly made)
Look out for "the frame game" - not all windows are the same! Lightweight 50/60mm frames are cheaper and are not (as far as I am concerned built for strenght and durability) Go for 70mm frames with galvanized steel reinforcements. (All the way round) - Fusion welded at each and every corner. Does not need to cost a fortune either.
If the sample shown at point of sale is extrenally beaded avoid like the plague - no security in these style units at all. Thieves could enter your property in less than a minute!
Read the fine print BEFORE signing...check out the warranty and know what's covered and what's not! The guarantee should be on the property NOT the person, and should be transferable if you decide to sell!
