SURREY WINDOWS & CONSERVATORIES Ltd (Tolworth/Surbiton): This company should not be touched with a barge-pole! Its service is poor, its workmanship of a very low standard and its ability to cope with complaints nil. Bricks and masonry are ripped out with no real attempt to make good the damage - it is merely covered over by plastic fittings. Of the several windows we had installed one has an ugly dent in its sill and, furthermore, was left unfinished - totally unsealed. Another, our main front window, turned out not to be in the style we ordered - but on raising this with the company's director we were subject to abuse and a total refusal to accept what we said. At one point, we were told: 'You shut up!' One side of a pair of French Doors only fully closes when locked, otherwise there's a 2-3mm gap at the top! In short, the service offered by this company is as unacceptable as it is unprofessional - so, again, avoid it like the plague! We're now left to make good its mistakes. Incidentally, we had four quotations for a small conservatory. One was £9,400, one £10,000 and another £12,500. The fourth quote, from Surrey Windows, was £16,000!

Summary: Poor quality in every department.

I absolutely agree. We've had a similar experience with Surrey Windows.
They were supposed to install one sash window and restore another. They made a mess of the external brick work, and replaced some bricks with cement! The conveniently "forgot" to come back to restore the 2nd window, and when they did, after months of chasing, they didn't have all the hardware we paid for. Speaking of hardware, we had paid for brass, and got cheap brass plated versions instead.

8 months went by without any response before we had a random call back from them wanting to settle the account! They came over to finish the job and get the final payment.

The story doesn't end there... we were given a great quote from another sales person for another 2 window restorations (in heinsight too good to be true). Foolishly we agreed to pay for materials up front. The 1st appt was missed, materials were dropped off, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th appt was missed!! They've ignored all complaints. We've been scammed, again!!

Stay away from Surrey Windows and Conservatories.

Glad to see it wasn't just us - had a similar experience that backs up everything you've said.

What a dreadful experience; by sharing it here hopefully others will be more aware and steer clear.
