Never work for Europlas

On January 12 2001 I attended an interview with one of the senior members of the Europlas Telecommunications staff, I was told in my interview that I had the job, due to my bubbly personality and charm.

The Basic rate of pay was not brilliant but the Bonuses were so as you can guess I was quite happy to take the job.

I was told on the 12th that I would be contacted within a week to arrange a start date and given directions to the office, I went home feeling good about this and told everyone that I would soon be starting a new job.

I waited and I Waited, but I heard nothing, I telephoned their free phone number to ask why I had not been contacted and no one seemed to know a thing.

I should have known then that working for this company would be a bad move, but I was looking forward to a new challenge so I persevered and I wrote a letter to the lady that interviewed me asking why I hadn’t been contacted, stating that I would understand that if I was not suitable for the position but I would appreciate it if I could know why.

I never received a reply, and I gave up…

Until that is my partner saw another advert in the paper.

I decided to take the bull by the horns and ring, not thinking I would get anywhere, but I thought it was worth a try.

I was put through to the Lady that originally interviewed me, and she told me to attend a second interview the next day, so I did and I was told that I had the job, and that I started the next day.

I was over the moon.

I went to work the next day, and things were going well, I picked things up really easily and I was good at my job,

I was generating leads in no time, and I was actually the most effective canvasser in the office, I was generating at lease £7000 for our branch a week.

Then my Manager decided to make an in branch promotion, and I was the obvious choice, I was promoted
to Acting manager in his absence, my hours were increased and my duties were added to.

Then my boss was fired, and I was promoted again to Temporary manager, but my money stayed at a basic of £3.70 when his was £4.50, which I thought was a bit off, but with all the extra hours I was putting in I was bringing home quite a bit.

They also fired 2 of my canvassers so I was told to recruit I employed 2 young ladies who were good.

Then the woman who had originally employed me came to our branch and was full of praise, she said that Louise and myself were doing a brilliant job of running the office without a manager.

Yet that evening the manager of the sales team told me that Maureen had told him that Louise and I were too “clicky” and that we would pose a threat to the rest of the canvassers, which was simply not true,

But we carried on regardless, earning the company more and more money and getting stabbed in the back at every turn.

I was also told that my job was on the line if my canvassers didn’t produce more leads.

I was working an average of 10 hours a day and sometimes more I was getting hardly any sleep and I was put on to anti-depressants to try and ease my stress. Yet they still wanted more.

In the time that I was there (just over 2 months) they fired 7 people and I was being used as a dartboard.

I decided that enough was enough and I quit, which is something I don’t normally do.

I left just under 8 weeks ago and I still haven’t received my P45 or my P60, and every time I try to get it sorted I just get put on hold and nothing gets sorted.

I have since found out that I am the first canvasser to have quit and not get fired, which I think I a great thing. Quickly followed by Louise.

I would never work for this company again and I would not recommend doing so to anyone.
