I was very dissapointed with my experience I drank the amount recommended and when I went for my scan they said there wasn't any water so couldn't tell me the sex of my baby leaving me heartbroken and up set also mmy family who was with me 2 I was offered no alternative due to no appointments left that day I don't see the problem in booking me in another day which they weren't willing to do even tho they still took the money and was offered no refund they told me only 4 people out of thousands had xome away with nothing if this is the case then I can't see a problem in given them few a new appointment for free its not like its gonna break the bank and it is a lot worse leaving people feeling how I did which wasn't in a nice place so I suggest people really look into it before going ahead I do intend to take this further and pre warn people before going ahead and doing what I did I would like to add that the staff were very sympathetic and kind .
I went for a scan here a last week and had an amazing experience. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who took us through to a waiting room where my daughter (yes you can take kids) played with the toys and drawing stuff provided. After a short while, we had a drinks order taken and complimentary drinks arrive swiftly afterwards. Right on the dot, we entered the scan room greeted by a really smiley lady who sat me down on the bed and asked my 5 guests to take a seat. I noticed that they had 3 screens in the room so we all got a great view. My OH say by my side as we watched our little one do his thing (which wasnt too much as he was asleep despite the full fat coke and mars bar!). but we did get some AMAZING images and even saw his boy bits (his dad was very proud). During the scan, the scan lady showed us all of baby and we listened to the heartbeat. She checked everything was ok and told us everything was fine with baby. After the scan we were escorted down to the office, where a lovely guy (think he was the studio manager) printed off our pictures and got our bear ready (you can get bears with your babys heartbeat recorded on to it, how cool is that!). I paid £99 for the special storm package and it was worth every penny , I also got a bear at £20. Thanks meetyourbaby for a great experience. will be telling all my friends. x
This is a review of my experience of using the 'meet your baby' 4d scan experience in Leeds.
The service is privately run and complements the available baby scan facilities offered by the NHS. I had no plans to have a private scan until I went to the 20 week NHS scan and my baby had its legs crossed throughout so we were unable to find out the sex.
I really wanted to know, so did some research and found I could have a 'sexing scan' at meetyourbaby in Leeds for £75. However, for a special offer of £99 I could get the sexing scan, 7 colourised 3d photo prints, 2 black and white 2d photo prints, and a 10 minute 4D DVD plus the bonding experience the scan offers. This was the 'Little Star all inclusive package' which normally retails at £150 but I had entered a competition on Real Radio and although I didn't win, I was sent a discount code on email. They do sometimes do special offers so it's worth checking with them.
We were advised to aim for the scan at 25 weeks so it's wasn't too long to wait before we were due for our appointment, which had been arranged for a Saturday morning. In the meantime, instructions and directions were sent through on email confirming the appointment and advising us to bring a fizzy drink and chocolate to get the baby moving.
On the day, we drove through to the building which was on an industrial office estate near the Leeds Utd Football Ground and it was easy to find, plenty of free parking. We were welcomed in personally by the receptionist and led to a waiting room for a while as we had got there a little early.
Whilst waiting for the appointment, the reception is charmingly decorated and has example scan pictures with before and after pictures of the babies. There are a few souvenir baby items you can buy too like money boxes and cute accessories.
When our time came, we were led to a dark and peaceful scanning room with soothing music playing gently in the background, a comfy settee area for the viewers (you can take friends and family but I just took the hubby) with a widescreen TV for them to watch throughout. For the one being scanned, there's a therapy style table which is quite comfortable with a pillow and a screen in the ceiling for mummy to be to watch and the sonagrapher sits in the corner with her equipment.
The scan starts off in 2d black and white whilst they find the right position, then they flip the mode over to 4d and you get a golden colourised view of your baby which is amazing! You can see all their features and it really starts to feel real. I can understand what the bonding with your unborn baby means now when it is mentioned on the website.
Our sonographer spent ages getting lots of good pictures for us and twice she sent me off for a walk and stair climb to try and get the baby to shift position so she could get more of the face for us; she also confirmed it was a girl which was lovely although we really didn't mind either way!
Our baby spent a lot of time with her hands over her face being shy but it still didn't stop the sonographer getting some good pictures for us and I still look at them in amazement. I really wonder if we will recognise her from the pics when she arrives in a few weeks' time!
Some people are a bit freaked out by the pictures and I agree that they are unusual and on some of them the eyes can look a little strange but bear in mind that you're viewing a developing baby and the miracle of that in itself is enough to make this a fascinating experience.
So, enough rambling on. In a nutshell, I found the experience to be excellent and worth every penny. The staff were polite, respectful, enthusiastic and interested in me and our baby. The results were great, all our family and friends enjoyed watching the DVD and seeing the pictures.
Would I recommend? If you can afford to pay for the private scan, go for it!
