My Experience Of Bereavement

Newest Review: ... CPR. At this point I was at a complete loss as to what to do, I just stood there in complete shock. I just couldnt believe what was happening. I managed to get myself mobiised and went downstairs to wait for the ambulance. Within minutes i could hear sirens and starteed to panic when I realised that they had taken the wrong turning that went to my Mums next door neighbour. At this point I was shouting to get their attention and flicking the outside light on and off, seems stupid I know but rational thought had gone out of the window. A couple of minutes later the Lives Responder arrived and I showed him where to go. My Mum, Siste... more

I know this is a really sensitive subject especially to people who have experienced bereavement, I just think its something that we should be able to talk about without people feeling uncomfortable or crossing the road when they see you coming. My experience of bereavement happened nearly 2 years ago now and its something I never want to experience again even though I know its inevitable. On the 07 September 2007 my Mum, my Sister and My Sisters Step Daughter to be was having a girly night in at my Mums house. The reason for this was that my Sister was due to get married the next day so we were having a few drinks to celebrate. My Dad was sent to ...  Read the complete review

I apologise in advance for this article and how rambling and thoughtful it may become but i am sat at work and just need a sounding board to get this out. This isnt about the loss of a family member or even a very close friend but instead about a lovely lovely ex colleague who had his life snuffed out by a careless horrible driver while doing the job he loved. This morning started out as a normal morning and with the event of a phonecall all that changed. my lovely, kind hearted, softly spoken ex colleague had been killed in a road accident while on duty as a police officer. We used to work together when I was a WPC and he was a special constable and ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review My Experience Of Bereavement: I wish I didn't have the experience to write this (2214 words)

I have been toying with writing this for a few days and to be quite honest, I'm still not one hundred percent sure I'll even press the Submit button at the end. Even thinking about writing it my heart is pounding and I feel ever so slightly sick. I'm not the greatest writer in the world and I'm not entirely sure that the words I write can entirely describe my feelings, but I'll give it a go. I was very lucky to reach the ripe old age of twenty six without really having experienced death in any form. My Grandad died when I was four, but to be honest, I didn't really understand and I don't really remember much about it except for the fact that my parents were ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Learning to cope with bereavement (1467 words)

Death, like taxes, is inevitable. You cannot go through life without losing friends and family and hopefully you will be older when it truly affects you but sadly the grim reaper is a bit like life, and isn't fair, so you can be hit by it at any stage in your life. Bereavement first hit me when I was 13 when my papa died. Children were not allowed at the funeral however, so I wasn't able go. I actually didn't attend my first funeral until I was 23, when my grandma died and her loss did hit me more. When my grandparents died, they were all a good age and I was able to take comfort from the "they had good innings" cliché. However when my ...  Read the complete review

I will start by apologising for what may come across as being a very selfish article. Actually, No, I won't apologise - the title is "My Experience of Bereavement" so that is what you will get.... We are now in the second half of January - and that means that we are almost in February, which is the month in which I lost my Dad almost 4 years ago.........February used to just be "the short month where payday came around quicker" but now it is the crap month where I get moody (yes, even more than usual) and snap at everyone for the smallest possible reason. I have a qualification in bereavement counselling, and can honestly say ...  Read the complete review
