Advantages: Good windows - locking system, using energy efficient glass

Disadvantages: Why does selling have to take so long?

I can only write as I find so here goes. It started with a flyer through the letterbox so I called the local office (Reading, Berks) and the salesman arranged to visit. He turned up promptly at 7pm, he asked whether his colleague (a new sales trainee) could also come in and that was fine.

We needed a quote for 10 windows and a patio door and already had one quote from Everest. The salesman was pleasant but the pitch went on and on - I'm sure I could've been told about the Pilkington K glass, 100% virgin UPvC materials alot quicker. The example of a window looked good, nice finish, good locks etc. Some 3 hours later we got to the price (today's special) and as it was 60% cheaper than Everest we accepted.
The subsequent survey was pretty quick and easy, again the surveyor turned up on time.

A fitting slot of late September was agreed. The gang of 3 fitters turned up promptly (8am) and they started working. Top tip for any large work (double glazing, kitchen etc) - go and buy a tin of biscuits for them and provide regular hot drinks, it's a small price to pay to get them on your side and who knows do a better job.

Safestyle obviously work their teams hard as I expected this to be a 2 day job but they reckoned they could do it in one. All 10 windows went in well, key success factor, no cracked tiles in the bathrooms. They cleaned up OK but I always had to finish the job properly. However there was an issue with the patio door and they eventually gave up at 8pm with a call through to the QA/QC dept to say new wheels for the door were required. Hence I held back 10% which they seemed to accept. 12 hours onsite was too much for my liking as well.

Next day I got a prompt call saying they couldn't return that day, I said this wasn't acceptable so a few hours later I got a call to say they'be be back onsite around 5pm. Indeed they were and a quick 20 min repair job saw the patio door fixed. I paid the remainder and that was that. Job done.

Overall the new windows are good, fitting has gone well but just wish the sales tactics would not drag on forever.

Summary: I'd recommend but do make sure you know what you want beforehand.
