Agression in the sales Pitch!! (Safestyle UK)

A trio of canvassers visited our road yesterday, one of whom called on me and, as I was already considering replacement windows for the front of the house, it seemed like a good opportunity to get a quotation from this nationwide company. He took my details and said I would get a call and a visit later that afternoon. He wasn't wrong! Half an hour later a representative of SafeStyle called - I had to presume that he was as he had no formal identification or business card.
Rats were already smelling!
Anyway, despite being told that all we required at this juncture was a straightforward written quotation for our consideration, as we expected he launched into the sales pitch, confessing to not being a salesman but a marketting manager and that 'he didn't usually do this'!!. Brilliant technique - feel sorry for the guy and you'll buy!

The sample windows were produced and demonstrated, followed by the ceremonial waving of the tape measure at the windows we were considering for replacement. Nothing written down, of course. This was followed by a slagging off of the other windows in the house, inferior quality, poor locking mechanism etc. etc. Still no written quote but we moved eventually to price after the inevitable "once in a lifetime opportunity", which requires our property to be photographed and featured on the forthcoming website offering of direct on-line purchasing of the 'diamond 'window. Our agreement would mean a 50% reduction of the cost of 'diamond' windows (i.e. to the price of a standard window'!) No 'real' figures, mind! Attitude changed when it eventually sunk in that we were NOT going to order, sign up or do anything to meet his expectations for a sale and he left muttering and complaining about his time being wasted. GOOD - we were not all all impressed with the man or his pitch or his attempts to pressure us into a purchase.

On another website, visited after he'd left, I found correspondence that was critical of the sales approach of SafeStyle, dating back to 2006. One thread mentions the follow-up call(s), one of which I received today from a rather rude man who clearly believes ears are to hang phones and glasses from and not for listening! After I refused to provide him with the information he demanded, he hung up! Probably get another call tomorrow!

Safe Style may well have excellent products - however, from my experience they do not seem to have excellent or professional representatives .
