What a clown!
The guy turned up to give a quote just about on time, didn't take off his overcoat which we noticed had white paint on the back, and then he belched his way through his presentation (McDonalds I think from the aroma). The presentation itself consisted mainly of rubbishing other peoples products, and included a couple of lies about his product which he exposed later when we questioned him.
Whilst measuring up he seemed to invent a spurious regulation from FENSA about openings to make us buy extra features on a particular window, (If I determine that this was made up then FENSA will be informed).
Finally he came to the quote and we discovered what BOGOF really means - Their list price for the windows are actually double what other companies charge, so, get half free and you are about where other companies quote. At this point he refused to put the quote in writing and continued with a bit of heavy selling, but we're smarter than that and did not budge.
It was at this point that he noticed he couldn't find his mobile and asked if he could use our phone to call his office, record the quotation and confirm the address of his next appointment (lie number three, or perhaps four because he made no reference to his next meeting). On coming off the phone the price of the windows suddenly dropped another 40% having already assured us that he had given his companies best price - but he still wouldn't put anything in writing. We invited him to leave.
I had no idea this kind of hard sell spivery still went on, it was really quite amusing.
Summary: Everything you've heard about double glazing salesmen is true for these people.
